Fun fact: Demiurge's skill "Command Mantra" works on anyone under lvl 40. The reason why it didn't work on Jircniv is because his necklace gives him immunity to mental attacks. Also, Fluder went on his knees later than the others. This leads some, including me, to believe that Fluder is lvl 39. The skill still took effect on him, but was slightly delayed because he was almost a high enough lvl to resist it.

The reason Fueler went to his knees a little later is more likely because Dimiurge was only targeting those not allied wifh Nazarik...Fueler who was already a subordinate of Ainz would be uneffected, but was smart enough to realize that he should have been if that wasnt the case so he knelt as well to try and keep up the pretense of still being on the side of the empire. It was seen through in the end, but at least he tried.

@@davarrashayde I think Demiurge would've still cast it on Fluder because he's a human who dared to stand in front of Ainz and not kneel. Him being an ally doesn't change the fact that he's human and Demiurge sees humans as lowly beasts. He's a useful beast, but still a beast. And that beast didn't immediately kneel. But, I could be wrong.

I always find it a little touching that the floor guardians personalities beyond the explicit backstories they were given are actually filled in by their creators, Pandora’s actor included. Demiurge in particular, because his creator was really pessimistic and reserved, but we can see through his creation that he really did adore Ainz and appreciate his friendship. Not just because Demiurge himself is an homage to Ainz’s build, but his sheer and unadulterated admiration and love for him that wasn’t actually in his character description, meaning it came from his creator. Demiurge is actually one of the more wholesome Floor Guardians with this in mind. If you ignore the happy farm, obviously.

It's cool because Demiurge's creator Ulbert was always deeply logical and Sebas' creator, Touch Me was always noble and straightforward. Funny how they kinda made each other to an extent. Demiurge is quick on that trigger while Sebas doesn't rush things.

Hello friend, it's good to see you arent depressed even though half the characters that appear in the Opening have died. As always, I am going to comment on information found in the light novel in order to clarify some things that may have been unclear. As it is already obvious, Fluder is to blame for everything that happens in this arc. He is the one who "discovers" the ruins of Nazarick and tells the Emperor that a powerful magician named Ainz Ooal Gown lives there and suggests exploring them taking into account that: 1) The "ruins" are in realm territory so any invaders will naturally be assumed to be from the Re-Estize realm. 2) By sending the Workers as scouts, even if they are captured, they don't belong to any organization, so no one is responsible for them and they can be sacrificed. 3) Even if Ainz gets some Worker to confess that they are actually from the Empire, the emperor has arranged everything so that the person responsible for the recruitment is a worthless noble who can have his head cut off and say that they didn't know anything about it. The main idea is that if the Workers are successful, the Empire will seize any treasures Ainz Own Goal has before the Kingdom can claim them. And, if the Workers are wiped out, that means Ainz Ooal Gown is strong and can be a formidable ally. So, the Empire can pretend that the Kingdom is the main culprit in everything and reach out to the sorcerer with a "helping hand". Of course, this was all a trap for the Emperor from the start. During the trip there is a discussion about who should be the wife of the Emperor. Jircniv seems to sense that Renner's true personality is not as good as seems and for that reason, he despises her. Fluder then suggests to the ruler of the Draconic Realm, that she is a half-dragon descended from one of the dragonlords. The reason why Fluder is interested in her is because it is known that she can use Wild Magic (a New World original), although it is not as powerful as true dragons because her blood is not pure enough, but he would still like to research it. However, despite having many years to live, she takes the form of a little girl because she can favorably impress people and because of this, Jircniv dislikes her. The Four Imperial Knights are the strongest elite military unit of the Baharuth Empire. They serve as the personal guard of the Emperor, but one of them, the Immovable, was killed when Mare caused the earthquake in the palace. In this chapter we see two of them, but I want to emphasize the blonde woman with the bangs over her eye. Her name is Leinas Rockbruise, she was born to a noble family of the Baharuth Empire, where she earned a measure of fame and renown by defeating monsters and beasts around her family's domain. However, one day, she was cursed after she slew a monster, which disfigured the right side of her face, which is described as disgusting due to the curse which causes it to secrete pus. Knowing her appearance would bring shame upon them, her fiancé abandoned her and her family disowned her. Afterwards, her only goal in life became to get revenge on those who wronged her and to find a way to cure her so-called "incurable" curse. Leinas's abilities and reputation eventually caught Emperor Jircniv's attention, who allowed her to have her revenge in exchange for joining his personal guard. Though Leinas serves Jircniv as his private guard, she made it very clear that she is willing to abandon the him if she ever feels that her goal or her life is at risk. The Emperor is well aware of her potential defiance but chose to overlook it and allow her to continue performing her duties, knowing there is no other forces to fulfill her demand. That was, of course, until the appearance of Nazarick. At first the Emperor wants to have a "War of Words", which in Japan would be a political conversation designed to twist everything in his favor and get the most information. The problem is that at that moment he doesn't know that Ainz is undead nor does he understand his power. The first thing he sees are two contradictory messages: On the one hand, a Dragon that is clearly there to show strength; But on the other, the emissaries are elven children who, while powerful, do not transmit enough information that the emperor can use to find out about Ainz beforehand. When he arrives in Nazarick the first thing he sees are the Battle Maids Yuri and Lupusregina. In the novel it is revealed to us that Jircniv had brought several daughters of the most prominent nobles of the empire to give them as slaves to Ainz, but when he saw the beauty of the Battle Maids, he realized that those two were more beautiful than any woman in his royal harem. When he speaks to them, the emperor tries to seduce them (he is very good at manipulating women) but they do not flinch at all, although they are still courteous. Jircniv doesn't know if it's because they don't find him attractive or because they have too much loyalty towards Ainz and so he tries to get an idea of his opponent's charisma from this. But the 5 Death Knights change everything. And it is said that each one of them is as powerful as the entire imperial army, so only those servants are 5 times the power of his entire empire. In the novel the throne room was filled with a huge number of powerful servants of Nazarick. In addition, the architecture itself, the art and finally the appearance of Ainz, who resembles a god of death... All this made Jircniv completely change his objective from "War of Words" to "get out alive and with the Empire intact." Demiurge, who is transformed because he doesn't want to risk someone recognizing him as Jaldabaoth, uses his voice to force everyone to their knees, but Jircniv manages to resist him because he secretly carries a medallion that protects his mind from magic. An important detail is that all this conversation between Jircniv and Ainz took place without the latter knowing anything. Demiurge was so sure that everything he had planned was nothing but an indirect suggestion from Ainz, who in his mind controls absolutely everything and knows everything, that he didn't even tell him what he had to say or do. So, all of Ainz's dialogues were an improvisation, in which the Overlord used the typical formulas or quotes of a Japanese salaryman. In our language they would be the typical phrases you hear when you call "Customer Service". What terrifies the Emperor the most is the fact that despite Ainz having overwhelming power, he apparenty is not arrogant. And it is that the best tactic of the weak is to take advantage of the confidence of the strong to defeat him. In addition, he believes that Ainz has intelligence that surpasses him, because he can't understand his way of proceeding and that is why he is so pressured not to fall for the Overlord's plans. What he doesn't know is that Ainz is a coward, he's not smart at all (he isnt stupid either; You cant be a Guild Leader while being stupid AF) but he improvises all the time, and besides, he doesn't have a plan nor does he understand Demiurge's. And speaking of that. Demiurge is so smart that he immediately deduces, without much difficulty, the Emperor's plan to form an Alliance against Nazarick and also tells us the steps he will take: First he will try to make Ainz demonstrate his power so that the rest of the world recognizes the danger that Nazarick represents; then he will wait patiently while the Overlord makes the inhabitants of the conquered lands suffer, increasing the feeling of discontent; thirdly he will work behind the scenes to rally all the nations and only at the end will he reveal that he is actually against Ainz. But according to Demiurge this will fail because Nazarick's first goal of conquest is the city of E-Rantel, where Momon the Adamantite Adventurer is already famous. For some reason, which we will see later, he will prevent the Emperor's plan from succeeding. Also, in this episode we are informed that apparently Princess Renner is working with Nazarick from Demiurge's comment: "We could have used the Golden Princess to achieve a similar effect, but that would be a waste of a very useful resource." Finally, when they are proposing the titles for Ainz, Albedo emphasizes "Supreme King" because Ainz was the leader of their creators, but in a very subtle and indirect way she also tries to establish that only Ainz deserves to rule Nazarick. But in the end the title of Cocytus is chosen because its very appropriate. Fun fact: Sakurai Takahiro, the VA of Jircniv also voices: Geto Suguru (JJK), Diablo (Tensura), Tomioka (KnY) and Kira Izuru(Bleach) to name a few prominent characters, but there are many more! Leinas, the female knight with the big ass spear, is under a curse that leaves half of her face in a disgusting state, constantly secreting pus. Her main goal is to find a way to break this curse. This is the only reason she's serving the emperor. If it became better for her to abandon his service, she would do so without hesitation. Jircniv is aware of this, and it was one of the conditions of her service that she would just abandon him if a threat showed up that she couldn't take on. When Leinas wants to run after seeing the death knights, Jircniv convinces her not to by basically saying that her abandoning him now is likely to place her into more danger. He knows perfectly well she has 0 loyalty to him, so he convinces her by saying that while the emperor was invited to Nazarick (to apologize), Leinas herself was not, so she would become unaffiliated if she ran, and could be considered an intruder to Nazarick. Correct, the meeting between Fluder and Momon was before all this. When we first saw Fluder, in the episode where we also first saw Foresight, a knight came to tell Fluder that adamantite adventurers wanted to meet him (same part we see in this episode). Then it cuts to Momon and Nabe in the empire capital. IIRC, the reason Jircniv was unaffected by Demiurge's command is because he has an item that prevents mind control effects. A pretty useful and important item for an emperor to have if you think about it. The emperor realized Fluder's betrayal, but there wasn't much he could do about it besides not telling Fluder anything important anymore. Fluder is so ridiculously powerful that his mere existence puts pressure on surrounding countries. Even the Slane Theocracy, who we've seen in season 1 are capable of fielding 7th tier magic in emergencies, have a healthy respect for Fluder's power. More directly important though is that Fluder's existence also basically means the Re-estize kingdom has no real hopes of defeating the Empire in an all out war. They hold their annual skirmishes, but if they were to actually win and invade the empire, Fluder would be an insurmountable obstacle for them. Gazef, the strongest warrior in the Kingdom, would stand no chance against Fluder. Even Evileye is only capable of using 5th tier magic and she is far stronger than anyone else in the Kingdom. It really is funny to see how incredibly important Fluder is just by his strength, and how pathetically weak he is compared to Nazarick, since even Narberal is a far more powerful mage than he is.

A little language fact here. Demiurge said he thought it "blasphemous" that Jircniv talked to Ainz as an equal. This is most noticeable in the japanese dub because of the 2 forms of speach being "formal" and "informal" japanese. Formal japanese is (if you didn´t know) when you hear a "desu" with a mostly silend "u" at the end of a sentence (this can be replaced with words like "Kudasai") Ainz speaks informal with everyone since he is the leader of Nazarik but he speaks formal as Momon. Jircniv spoke informal to Ainz since he is the leader of an entire country and used to speak like that because he is the highest "being" in his society. But the problem for Jircniv also was that he wasn´t able to speak formal with Ainz since it would place him "below" Ainz if Ainz kept talking informal and he accepted that.

Great reaction as always. Here's a couple of fun/interesting things they changed or left out in the anime adaptation.The reason why Jircniv mentioned "beautiful women" when listing the strengths of Ainz when walking into the throne room was because he had brought with him some of the most beautiful women of the Empire to present as "a gift" to Ainz but after seeing the maids when arriving at the Tomb he disregarded that idea. They also changed Ainz's title. In the LN Cocytus suggested "King of Darkness" and Ainz picked that one.

Correction, King of Darkness is a ridiculous decision from the English translation that doesn't fit the explanation, motives or intention behind it and has the overlord fandom cringing. For years, long, before the official translations came out, it was always Sorcerer King and Sorcerer Kingdom. Cocyutus literally explains the title as "one who leads by magic" and the Kanji for the title say as much so King do Darkness doesn't make sense, it also doesn't make sense to call yourself King of Darkness of the Kingdom of Darkness, when you want to appear as a legitimate kingdom that wants to forge legitimate diplomatic ties or want to create a "Utopia" where all races coexist in peace and prosperity under his rule.

Its just a theory but i think the reason Jircniv managed to stay standing is because he has a job level high enough to withstand the command of one of Demiurge's job class related to being a general/commander.

Though it's said that the medal is effective precisely because people did not know it was there in the first place. The medal possesses magic that gives one mental protection, however, its power seems to only provide protection so long as the wearer keeps his/her mind focused. With this, the mental barrier is enough to ward off Demiurge's mind control so it can resist any mental attack that is at least up to level 40."
