Classic 'Superheroes'. And Ryan and Colin are so brilliant in this 'Secret'!

OK to settle the debate between US and UK versions. This show was conceived in the UK and titled "Whose line is it anyway". Even if it was somehow conceived in the US it would have been called "The Drew Carey Show". That I think sums up the difference!

And I could see Ryan trying not to laugh when Tony said that!

Wow, the "Secret" scene was wonderfully surrealistic! Yeah, I think Colin and Ryan would have been perfect MP "participants".

At around 8:50 you can see a guy behind Clive yawning his ass off. I remember Patterson once interrupted a taping of the US version because of this. Morals have really loosened!

Here's the answer to the debate: THERE IS NO DEBATE. Yes, there are many differences. You could note all of them, but it doesn't matter. They're equal in their own ways and should not be compared. I'm sick of reading the many debates and I think there should be no comparison.

The cast really wasn't better on the US version. The US version didn't have Mike McShane, Tony Slattery, Paul Merton, Sandi Toksvig and only had Josie Lawrence on twice.
@ComeAlongKay Жыл бұрын
Yeah they all kind of sucked. I mean my goodness compared to the Americans and Canadian they were awful. Colin Ryan Wayne Brad Geoff chip they are all so dramatically better. The chick you mentioned was the best of them probably and she still was no where close to those guys level.
@ComeAlongKay Жыл бұрын
Why have them on when you can have the better American and Canadian improvisers on? They’re just taking up spots to please a niche group that likes weird British references.

Read what I've written. The "drew carey show" came much later after the launch of WLIIA US version. The bigger point is americans cannot come up with such names. That is the difference in the quality of humor.
@ComeAlongKay Жыл бұрын
That’s funny as all the American versions of British shows did better than the British versions and Americans even invented the genre the British office came form namely fake documentary style invented by the Americans who made spinal tap. Americans also invented most television genres like prank shows with candid camera and variety shows like Jackie Gleason did. Also the British typically suck the other way around. The American show impractical jokers is awesome easily one of if not the funniest show of all time while the British version of it sucks. I think Europeans particularly the British feel inferior so look for anything they can find to feel better and they usually just make it up. British humor is usually empty crass exaggerations and overly niche references. While america invented almost every television genre and tv itself and all modern music genres from punk rock to jazz to hard rock what exactly were you guys doing besides nonstop focusing on how much you don’t like Americans for making you feel less than? About half the reason groups like the Beatles succeeded is they took cues from Americans like The Beach Boys and Elvis and buddy holly. They were given a free ride because Americans love anything they think is exotic almost too a fault while very British British people are generally closed minded and stupid.

Excuse me. "Whose life is it anyway" is not equal to "Whose line is it anyway". The wit is still british. We are making comparisons in humour as opposed to soap opera. So don't bring in "Neighbours" etc. It is obviously targeted at duller people.
@ComeAlongKay Жыл бұрын
If the wit were British it would mostly only succeed in Britain to brain dead people who sound like drunken pirates which describes most of Britain. Other than mr bean who never speaks most British humor, a concept people struggle to even define, is too weird for anyone else as it mostly involves the kind of humor a twelve year old would find childish and or disgusting while also not really being funny. While American stuff like the American office and impractical jokers and it’s always sunny in Philadelphia do well and pretty much everywhere and can just leave whenever they want as they’re too successful to get canceled. Primarily the only reason people say they like British stuff is it’s like saying you like modern art. It’s niche, people think it means you ‘get it’ and you’re in the in crowd but ultimately it’s a chaotic mess no one understands and it’s work to consume. American stuff isn’t cool to like, it’s too popular. It’s too genre defining too all encompassing globally. People don’t want to like that they want to like art house films that are painful and boring to watch, much like most British stuff. British entertainment is more like a badge of honor to like, it has the perception of being good due to seeming exotic usually without having any real substance or quality or even uniqueness.
