I was always a little suspicious when we had to buy cards by loading balance! It puts collectors in a position where we have to reduce down to $0 when it’s not worth it for all the endless fees and what not that makes collecting expensive. It ensures us the legitimacy of cards but at what cost as international buyers. I’m glad you’re putting your foot down and I hope moving forth people understand that people need to be paid accordingly for their hard work and content and that what this company is doing is wrong when it is us creators that make this hobby fun to watch, consume and further purchase more if we choose to promote. Tbh I never minded that that much because it helped me limit how much I would spend on there (like “ok I’m only buying $50 worth of cards”) but the fees associated with everything was always very annoying 😭

Me and 3 other kpop creators did a sponsorship with them back in the summer and they ghosted us for months after we posted our content for them. I finally got a hold of them through their customer service outlet and a month after that I finally got the times we had both signed a contract for. After all of that they’ve still been using my content (not even sponsored content, just my content in general) to promote their shop and their sales (including posting my face on their reviews section of their app) without my consent. You’re happy to make your own decisions but I will not be promoting their site or buying from them myself moving forward.

On Mercari Japan I search the album name plus 特典トレカ (google translate says this is “bonus trading card”) it is a little easier for earlier albums before POBs became a thing. After POBs started you see those mixed in with the listings but you can still find a ton of people selling the POB sets!
