Loved this video. I also use Trello and find it great. It’s also great for your pattern stash as if you label them you can search by patterns for jersey/sweatshirt/viscose etc.! So handy!

Haven’t watched this yet, thats a pleasure yet to come. But still laughing at your ‘send help’!!!! I’ve had loads more fabric than I remember buying, someone must have my card!!!

Haha that's definitely the reason! There was definitely a point there where I thought 'what am I doing'! Didn't take long once I got going though :) x

Thank you for the mention Sally. I really enjoyed this video. Those Carolyn PJs will be beautiful and I love that Hedgehog fabric for your daughter! I haven't kept on top of Trello, due to having a baby etc, but I really want to get back on to it as I found it so helpful xx

No problem your video was really helpful to me. It looks as though you have a lot more fabric than me so I'm not surprised you haven't been able to do it all yet especially with a small baby :). Need to psyche myself up for those Carolyn's I think haha xx

I went through my stash a few months back but didn't think to put them in my Trello! I have a binder book with my samples and information. They are all back in their boxes so what I will do, is take photos of my samples instead. Thanks for the tip! I am new in Minerva. Yet to post though. I have been drooling and saving their fabrics to my wish list!

Have just watched this, it’s very inspirational. May have a go, but seeing the amount of fabric I have can make me feel ill lol. That diagonal striped jersey would make a cheeky t shirt dress for the summer.

Thank you for watching! I think if I had more fabric than I currently do I would have found it quite trying to do it all. So glad it's done now though. The problem with that fabric is that I only have a metre - maybe a t shirt xx

Thanks for this helpful video. I really want to have a go at organizing my stash now and trying out Trello 😁 I do have a sewing room but still have fabric all over the house😂 Definitely need to stop buying but just can’t resist when I see all the lovely new fabrics 😉 I wish I’d seen the sparkle jersey as it looks so nice but here I go again …..😜

Thanks for this vid! I might try out the trello app seeing you using it. It looks so organised being able to scroll through the pics with the title underneath it.

The Trello app looks really good. I saw Tamlyn's video about it and downloaded the app and that's as far as I got! 😆 I'll try and get round to sorting everything in the new year. Your thin jersey fabric might be useful as a lining, either for another jersey or for a woven. It would make a dress bodice very cosy, wouldn't it! I also think it would be worth seeing if the denim you have is enough for a Cleo. I was really surprised what a small amount of fabric it took to make one.
@SecretLifeOfASeamstress
@SecretLifeOfASeamstress 2 жыл бұрын
That's a good idea about the jersey thank you I'll definitely keep that in mind. Yes I was surprised about the Cleo fabric too I think I should have enough especially if I use a different facing. Thank you for watching xx

Thanks for sharing, Sally, I found this really interesting! I too have fabric dotted around the place, and I bet I'm not the only one...Most of my uncut fabric is in plastic bags at the bottom of my wardrobe, larger scraps are in a blanket chest in my bedroom, WIP is in a mobile tray in the dining room, patterns are spilling out of a box in the living room... Nightmare! 😱 If in doubt I will prewash fabrics again before cutting, just in case. I made some dungarees last year and discovered when I laundered them that I had not prewashed the chambray prior to sewing them up, and now I can't fit into them 😭 I definitely need to get better organized...

Oh no what a shame! I've been caught before too now so I always wash again if in doubt. Another thing I do sometimes is leave the fabric's tag on (if it has one) until I pre wash so I know I haven't done it yet. Thanks for watching xx

Hi Sally enjoyed this tutorial only wish I had a stash to sort out🙁. I made 2 linden sweatshirts with the sparkle fabric and I love them both the only thing I find is the neck tends to prickle very slightly it doesn’t stop me from wearing it but I tend to put a little top on underneath which comes up higher than the neckline I’m thinking it may soften over time it’s probably just me I can’t stand any labels on the back of neck lines and have to cut them out ( what a wimp ) but the material washes lovely and very warm. X

Ooh I did worry a little that it might be scratchy I'll keep that in mind thanks. I'm the same with labels and things in fact I wear a vest under pretty much everything even in the summer haha x

Ooo love! Could you do a bias cut slip dress with the retro fabric so it comes out straight? I don't know if that would work? ❤

Just sorted my dress making stash. I’ve put into open shelving so I can see it! (similar to your storage behind you) and mine is “worse” ...although I love the fabric I have 🙂 My soft furnishing fabric is in rolls in the corner of my studio ...I love your fabrics.too. The app is interesting! ...especially recording the lengths and whether I’ve pre washed. I overlock the selvedge edges before I prewash, to stop fraying and help me remember. Pre wash and fold unironed.

I’d love to have a studio and have everything out where I can see it it is difficult sometimes remembering what I have so at least I can check the app now. I never overlook edges but I really should. Thank you for watching xx

i always prewash my fabric when i receive it so that i can cut and sew whenever the mood strikes without having to wait for it to be washed. i don't iron however for the same reasons you don't. there would be no point--i'd just have to iron it again. :-)

If you thought the stripes on that one jersey fabric were vertical instead of diagonal, why not make a bias cut skirt, or dress out of it. The drape would be lovely and the stripes would then become vertical.
@SecretLifeOfASeamstress

Thank you that's a good idea, I think my main problem is that I only have a metre so not a lot of room to manoeuvre for different cutting etc. I might get a cami out of it though ;). Thanks for watching and commenting :) x
