Why did Washington sue them and tell them to never come back? Why did OSHA take them to court? Why did this man come forward under oath to make a case against SeaWorld? Everyone has done stupid things in the past, but this doesn't make him and the rest of the trainers liars. Why would they even waste their time doing this?

Trainers are victims too. I keep seeing comments on other videos about how terrible the trainers are, but in truth they are young idealistic people who love animals and are presented with the same scientific, conservationist facade we all are. What he is describing it is called “Animal Cruelty” due to the fact that all this Orcas’ illnesses and premature death are perfectly preventable when the Orcas live FREE in the ocean where they belong.
Orcas are most inhuman when they flick penguins around like a football before killing them. Orcas are cruel, so it is karma when they suffer after all the suffering the do to other small animals. But most humans fell the love for orcas but dont care about seal and penguins because they are more numerous and small. It is human to love bigger things like big bananas that a man has , or big melons that a woman owns. always bigger is better , that why we love orcas more then seals, its a weirdo sexual thing. If it was not then we would be happy for every orca in sea world thousand of seal will be alive but we dont think like that we are biased

Because he used to work there and has emotional ties to the company that make it impossible for him to see the truth. To him, those were the best days of his life. He doesn't want to see the truth, so Blackfish becomes "liberal bullshit" and this trainers testimony becomes "disgruntled employee bullshit". +Mrs K I don't understand how people can state that any sound an animal makes is emotional. We cannot understand what the noises make. We cannot talk to animals or understand them. So to say that you heard them screeching in pain/ distress cannot be backed up at all. If you want to be heard and for others to take your argument seriously you need to stick to facts. I'm not saying that I don't feel the same way. That animal sounds suggest emotions. However a friend of mine who is doing her phD in marine biology brought this to my attention. Those SeaWorld orca shows clearly don't know anything about Orcinus orca. They've believed orca dolphins should NOT be treated as the amazing, versitile, cultural, and incredibly intelligent apex predators they actually are. They are one of the most amazing animals on the entire planet!! But kids are instead being manipulated by these demeaning shows into seeing these animals as being unrealistically harmless, cuddly, soft, and easily bribed with food into doing these pointless and VERY undignified circus stunts for rotten fish often scooped out of dumpsters. DUMPSTERS!!🗑️ There's NO educational value here. The owners of these ABUSEment parks, if given a choice in the matter of contributing to rehabilitation and release of orcas, sea lions, and other animals held captive there and going instead with the theme parks of the future, (Animal-free, state-of-the-art CGI shows, IMAX theaters with surround sound effects, with actually educational, factual, and enjoyable exhibits, where we could be in realistic simulations where you're swimming alongside wild orca dolphin pods in the ocean) they'd say they'd rather cut off their arms or legs. No really! The outrage and hypocrisy here is these shows say they're respecting nature by forcing animals to dance to loud, blaring music with equally demeaned trainers dancing along posing as "marine biologists" dressed up in flashy, uncomfortable wetsuits. Where's the education in THIS? It's all LIES. In fact, I've recently read online that the the real reason that parks often only hire people to star in their cliche circus acts is BECAUSE THEY LOOK GOOD IN A WETSUIT! If an employee at SeaWorld is young and attractive, they're given jobs on the shows or out in the public, forced to lie about animal biology to make customers buy into it. You're also forced to never refer to the animals as having emotions or feelings! It's never mattered if they're not actually studying marine biology, or even given background checks or references to qualify for the job. Once you get older at SeaWorld, the owners become ashamed of your aging appearance and how it's scaring the children and so, you're permanently sent back behind the scenes, cleaning up after the animals. If certain animals were to ever escape, like polar bears for example, there's actually a PROTOCOL TO JUST SHOOT THEM DEAD ON SIGHT INSTEAD OF SEDATING THEM!!!!! There is an actual shooting range backstage for certain employees are to take mandatory shotgun target practice with pictures of animals on them, it is SO damning that the employees have even posted on social media on who's the best shooter!

There is absolutely no excuse for this type of “entertainment” to continue, especially in a country that objects so strongly with animal testing for even lifesaving human medications. We have strict laws governing animal care, and if it is found that animals in private hands are in peril, they are immediately confiscated, and prison time is often meted out for the offender. People making the argument that it's ok to imprison these animals simply just want to do what pleases them. They dismiss huge amounts of evidence that existing as a captive in a tank is damaging to whales and dangerous to humans, because they enjoy going to SeaWorld and seeing the shows or they dream of being a trainer, it's pure selfishness and an attitude of we humans can do what we want to any other species. As far as dolphin, they can be dangerous and they become irritable at being forced to do the same tricks all day long and pull people around the tank.... I know because I was injured by a dolphin who was tired of doing tricks on command and smashed me on the leg with his tail as he broke away from trainer control and swam off. Within 30 seconds my legs stiffen to the point where I couldn't walk out of the pool, and had to be assisted out. My entire leg turned black and I had difficulty walking for the rest of my vacation..... I was pretty uneducated about these parks at that point, and I'm just grateful it wasn't my 4 year old son who got hurt although he was pretty traumatized when I got hurt.

@cvtmr8079 it's not that simple as just knowing how to haunt, they do not know how to communicate in the wild with other orcas, or how to take really deep dives since they've always been in a shallow pool, most have their teeth really messed up due to chewing concrete out of stress which is another problem, they might also carry pathogens and diseases that wild dolphins or orcas do not have so you don't want to risk the wild population with any potential human disease or virus. It's too risky and careless to just free them for multiple reasons. However they should be another way, like a sanctuary. But most importantly, these reproduction programms must be ended, yet they don't seem to be ending any time soon with many species, it's horrible.

One of the most shocking things to me as a person age 27 whose parents took them to sea world when I was younger, is the how they acted like the age of Orcas in captivity is something incredible. When I learnt they could live up till 80-100 years old, I realised how manipulated I was as a child for thinking whales living till 15 was some sort of achievement and me actually thinking that was impressive. I'm so grateful I now am truly educated on these animals and ashamed I fell for this farce.

I went to Seaworld in the '80s, and absolutely HATED it, would never go back. I live on the ocean, no large mammal deserves to live like that. Left a terrible lasting impression.

Thank you for protecting Orcas. Those wonderful Animals swim hundreds kilometers per day surrounded by their family members. As all others species they can't bear captivity, they can't bear those stupid shows that are tortures. They have an echolocation system with their Sonar that help to locate their family or prey in the wild but in captivity it reverberates the sound to the infinite and that turn them Crazy! Upright postures are non-natural for them stop this abuse immediatly!

As each Sea World trainer leaves we are finding out more and more of the truth as to how the animals are really treated and kept medicated and also how the trainers are brain washed into thinking that all was right. Many of the former trainers have come forward now and told the whole truth. I admire John for writing his book and for telling the truth and for his deep love for the animals kept in captivity. Many of the former trainers that have come forth said that they stayed longer than they would have because they loved the whales and other animals. They have said that they thought their being there could make a difference I believe that it did.

Lol I think SeaWorld is a torture chamber, but this was hardly a “non bias interview”, nor should it have been. Unbiased means showing no prejudice for or against something…..it’s being completely impartial. John’s clearly against SW, as everyone should be.

Thank you for your courage to expose this horror. I hope someday soon, these places,(zoos as well);will be shut down. We don't learn anything important enough to keep these beauties in captivity. It's all about the money. Don't go to these places, at least they won't get our money. I wanted to be a marine biologist 40 years ago so I could be with and study Orcas. I thought getting a job at Marineland of the Pacific, (used to be in San Francisco area back then); would've been the greatest job. I don't know what I would've done if I had seen the horrible treatment of these awesome creatures up close. I would've been enraged, but like those that have stayed in the industry; at least if I stayed, I felt I could help them in some way. This should have been changed after the first person was killed. Shame, shame Seaworld and other parks. They'll never see my $ again. RIP Dawn and Tillicum :(

I got in contact with fellow whale enthusiasts and we were talking about why captive Orca have bending dorsal fins. In one article it was argued that it was because of the animals coming from a particular pod where it was genetic, showing a picture of a wild animal with a bent fin. But when actually looking it up we found out that a very little percentage of the wild orca population actually has bent fins. I then came across a documentary shot in the seventies about Bottle nose dolphins where one scientist attached a transmitter by drilling it through one of the dolphin's dorsal fin assuming it to be hardened skin. And finding out that that was not the case, the dorsal fins of all dolphin species is made from flesh and blood. So then I argued with my fellow dolphin enthusiasts that if the dorsal fin of an Orca is no different from the ones that bottle nose Dolphins have, it is basically the lack of movement and the lack of exercise which makes captive Orca go obese but the fat accumulates in their fins and flukes resulting in them bending over. I noticed that with Kanduke, the Orca bull who was Taima's father, that in addition to his dorsal fin bending over, the tips of his flukes were curled inward, as was the case with Keiko and Tilikum. Can you guys confirm the theory we have here that a bending dorsal fin is the Orca equivalent of a pot belly?
@littlesongbird17 жыл бұрын
Dorsal fins don't have bones They have cartilage similar to your nose. In the wild they don't spend as much time in at the surface so the water helps to keep their fins straight.

Start by discouraging other people from patronizing captive cetacean shows. Help educate others about the truth underlying the abuse of captive cetaceans and convince those people that cetaceans have a right to stay at home in the wild.

@dgarzaart20003 жыл бұрын
Don't buy a ticket. Tell people when you can about your beliefs. Write to your congressional and senatorial representatives and ask for legislation to he passed making it a federal crime to capture, breed or contain any dolphin or whale in any space other than a natural body of water. Trump made it a federal crime to abuse animals, so anyone who has witnessed abuse should report the abuse and follow up.

I've lost track of how many times I have watch Blackfish. I don't think orcas should be kept in captivity. I've never really been able to find an answer to a question about why when an orca drags and holds someone underwater, there isn't any means it seems to prevent/stop it. Like, there HAS to be means to stop it, but it's like they just wait till it is over and then move on.

There are some videos on KZbin that are showing killer whales with the curved dorsal fins. I remember hearing that this would be a sign there’s something wrong with the whale. I’m thankful for this man speaking out FOR these beautiful whales who can’t speak for themselves and are prisoners of their captivity. Such cruelty from the people that claim they own them.

12:45 I heard about the sanctuary option for the whales where they would at least have the feeling of living a wild life but still being cared for by humans if necessary. But if all the whales are put in a sanctuary and they form their own pod couldn't they eventually be released as their own pod? Maybe I am not misguided as I am not an expert. But it seems to me that the hybrids could eventually be their own pod in a natural setting.
