It’s a medial strut noodle with an integrated SMO, a hemi SMO on the opposite side of the noodle. And that combination allows us to get the maximum level of medial lateral control in an AFO. There are no extra materials to take up space inside of a shoe. The entry is from the side and these are made flexible, so the patient can enter and kind of twist the device and drop into it. Then a strap is affixed to hold everything in place. Soto is named after a patient of mine, she’s the victim of a car accident and has a closed head injury. She deals with spasticity and tone and the foot wanting to move into the equinovarus position and this is designed specifically to apply three points of pressure to the foot and three points of pressure to the ankle so we’re putting the maximum amount of pressure on her body to correct her position and with all that she’s able to don this independently even though she has use of one arm so with that independence is huge.
