Jim Riley, Great channel. I am a Yankees fan and I think Hal Steinbrenner will go top dollar for Soto! It's either the Mets or Yankees for Soto! Good pickup for Dodgers on getting the pitcher Snell. Plus, Yankees and the Mets need more than just getting Soto.

Let Bregman walk, you cannot be better than you were this year. He adds financial liability. Not as clutch in playoffs as he’s made to be. In a lot of playoff games a clutch hit from him would have changed the game and he couldn’t do it or ended a rally with a double play. Also trade framber, he chokes frequently when you need him most. Trade Tucker. Compare Astros record with and without him. He can be gone

He isn't worth even half what he is asking for and id also trade Tucker and Valdez this off-season of they won't sign extensions. I'm sorry, I know we're both Blue Jays fans and I agree with you about the fact that the Jays hav e no chance to sign Soto, but you are wrong about the idea that somehow there is a unicorn 'pot of money. Ohtani and Soto are completely different. Going after Ohtani was a business decision that completely made sense for Rogers unrelated to what happens on the field, while bidding for Soto is strictly a baseball decision in the narrowest sense. Ohtani generated over US$150 MM in 2024 for the Dodgers. Soto promises to generate zero for whoever signs him beyond a small uptick in gate receipts if the team wins more games.

The whole discussion around Soto is an issue to me simply because MLB fans have this nostalgia thinking the Red Sox & Yankees are still the old Red Sox & Yankees neither of them are. Yankees had to be forced to pay Judge because the Giants offered Judge more money & Judge wanted another year from the Yankees to come back. If that isn’t a massive sign they aren’t the same Yankees as old idk what to tell people. Why I say the Red Sox aren’t the old Red Sox anymore they traded Mookie Betts & Chris Sale ( who went on to win the Cy Young his first year after being traded ) and Xander Bogarts walked who was one of the best SS’s in MLB at that time. I know fans of those teams will say oh well that doesn’t mean anything but I completely disagree it’s why I’ve said from the beginning I think it’s the Mets that sign Soto & these other teams are being used as leverage on the Mets to just pay up what Soto wants. Also the Mets since Cohen has bought the team has paid guys outside of Degrom which was the absolute right call not to because he has only pitched in 20 games the last 3 years combined.

Yeah the bullpen needs an overhaul. They will likely need to take a flyer on a bounce back starter maybe Buehler. O'Neil and Walker are also other good options for bats.
