Soul Calibur III - Siegfried English & Japanese Voices

Siegfried's English and Japanese voice clips from Soul Calibur III.
The English VA is Crispin Freeman, also known as the voice of Rude in the Final Fantasy series and Alucard in Hellsing, amongst other roles.
The Japanese VA is Nobuyuki Hiyama, also known as the voice of Link in some of the Legend of Zelda games, Joe Higashi in the King of Fighters and Fatal Fury series, and Hiei in Yu Yu Hakusho, amongst other roles.
Soul Calibur III is owned by Bandai Namco Games Inc.

For those who don't know, Siegfried was voiced by three Akatsuki members in English. Crispin Freeman (Itachi Uchiha): Soul Calibur 3 Roger Craig Smith (Deidara): Soul Calibur 4 and 5 Kirk Thornton (Kisame Hoshigaki): Soul Calibur 6 Crispin is hands down the BEST one!

Tbh his voice in VI is the worst one yet. Kirk is a good VA, but whoever directed the voice acting completely messed up. I couldn't take his "story mode" (if we can call it that) seriously because of his voice. Long life Crispin Freeman.

Seychermanium He’s good, but he’s not Siegfried. Freeman was perfect as Siegfried, because his voice fitted Siegfried’s tormented, aggressive characters well. I didn’t like Roger Craig Smith in 4, because he was still trying to portray the same character as 3 but his voice didn’t have the same passion and anger that Freeman’s did, but I think he fits well in 5 where Siegfried is older and calmer. Kirk sounds good most of the time, but his voice sounds a bit too weird at times. Special mention to his line when Siegfried defeats Sophitia where his ‘anguished’ voice actually sounds like he’s jizzing his pants.

They really went all out bringing back Siegfried in SC3 as a separate character from Nightmare and the English voice shows. This is my favorite incarnation of the character overall.

i just like that as a kid his voice in JP always stuck with me because all the grunts sounded very very familiar ... then no wonder years later i found out its the same voice as the OoT adult Link and same thing with Yoshimitsu , his death scream sounded familiar too , only to realise Nobuyuki Hiyama also voice him until this game lol. Even funnier, Fujiko Takimoto (child Link from OoT and Majoras Mask) voices Taki since Soul Edge until this game.

Its a shame Crispin Freeman never returned as Sieg even if I know why he didnt. Which for those not in the know, from my understanding Freeman stopped doing non union work in 2005 and Soul Caliburs dubbing has been non union since 2007 (before that it was both iirc) thus Crispin Freeman didn't reprise his role in any following games. So in short a bunch of legalese and technicalities and all that.

This has got to be my favorite voice over in any video game, I think that on top of just having great casting all around, Siegfried having a deeper voice which works better in English and Crispin Freeman voicing him which is an obvious plus, Soul Calibur 3 also benefited from better voice directing than the previous and future games, the lines make more sense, they are delivered better than in other SC games and the story feels much more focused.

They had Demitri Maximoff from Darkstalkers in Namco X Capcom, but didn't had Siegfried in there. And that's horrible because if they interacted with each other, it would be a little bit confusing because Nobuyuki Hiyama voices both of them.

To be honest, I do prefer Japanese Siegfried's voice. That version of him sounds more lively and full of energy. But then again, when your Japanese voice actor is Nobuyuki Hiyama, of course it's hard for that performance to be topped. (Note: on some works I prefer the English voices, and on some others, I prefer the Japanese voices)

First, there was Crispin Freeman (Soul Calibur 3), then Roger Craig Smith (Soul Calibur Legends - Soul Calibur 5), and now Kirk Thornton (Soul Calibur 6, though Kirk's Male Veteran Knight quotes were reused from SC5 for the sake of "saving time"). Of the three English Siegfrieds, Roger Craig Smith will _always_ be Siegfried to me. (Sorry, but to me, Crispin's Siegfried sounds _forced.)_ No offense to Hiyama Nobuyuki (he's already one of my favorite Seiyuus), but I kinda feel like Miki Shinichiro would be a better fit for Siegfried.
