I'm touched. Now let's remember why we're all here and celebrate a unique band who made a couple of incredible albums that made me feel a little bit special at an age when that was important.

I played the hell put of Soul Coughing in the 90s . I never really listened to the lyrics. Here, later in life, bored during a pandemic, I am pulling out old CDs and finding myself actually listening and resesrching the songs. This song is much much deeper and sad than I could have imagined. Mike Doughty said in an interview "It's about a guy who does heroin that falls in love with a girl who's drunk, and they don't really click because their drugs aren't really compatible." Let's just open up a can of emotions and dump them everywhere.

Every little now and then. When my moment of weakness comes back and I turn to stare on the past, I always find my way back to this song.

I've seen Soul Coughing 4 times in my life up until last Tuesday in Minneapolis which was number 5. Words cannot describe how much I LOVE this band! My face hurt from smiling and even got emotional during this song. Now that its over, I'm left with an empty feeling like there's nothing left except old age and just memories of my 20's. Mark Sandman said from Morphine....DO NOT GO QUIETLY UNTO YOUR GRAVE!

"When all the noise has left your head Will someday you rise off the bed? I'll be there to lift you, lazybones." In only 3 lines he somehow manages to sum up battling depression.

I came for the melancholic /groovy beats, but stayed for the clever, staccato lyrics (AND melancholic /groovy beats)

I've never heard this song before, but there's something amazing about it- I think he more or less only uses the first 5 notes of the major scale in the entire song (although he uses a flat 7th degree I think in a couple of spots), yet the band manages to keep harmonically and sonically reinterpreting those 5 notes like shifting clouds in the sky, creating this constantly shifting sonic skyscape. That and his trippy, poignant lyrics create an amazingly powerful piece. Wow. So impressed.

It is logically impossible to more or less unique. It contradicts the meaning of the word 'unique'. You'd have thought a fan of the band responsible for the lyric "correlation is not causation" would understand this. Still, no-one likes a pedant, and fucking awesome track.
