Same, god I discovered them on Cartoon Network probably right as they were breaking up at age 6, and after delving deeper into their catalog into my teenage years and beyond they've remained one of my top faves

Favorite Soul Coughing album. Love the way they incorporated IDM & Breakbeat into their sound (especially considering it's persistent Breakbeats with an actual Drummer), it makes for a great sort of Electronic flair. Alot of older Soul Coughing fans don't like it because typically they say it feels less organic and freeform to them, but to me, this grooves the hardest out of their albums, as well as has the most interesting lyrics in my eyes, still sort of stream-of-consciousness and witty, but darker, more mantra-esque, and more personal I'd argue. To me, it feels like the logical conclusion to the sound Ruby Vroom established.

I stopped playback of this song and had to go back to "The Idiot Kings". There was something more freewheeling, raw, and looser with the innovations of the first two albums. El Oso seemed overly thoughtout. Almost expected. Like they were afraid to go back to that 3rd rail.

Definitely will be doing some from Ruby Vroom and Irresistible Bliss. Definitely more freewheeling.

I disagree. El Oso is probably just too Electronic oriented for your tastes.
