Kandace Springs is just incredible and in my opinion she has long been the new star in the international jazz scene. Here accompanied by fantastic Metropole Orchestra, propably for now the best in the world.

I only recently discovered her from watching Live from Daryl's house, and she never ceases to impress me. She reminds me of the late Carmen McRae, with splashes of the late great Sarah Vaughan. I'm going to buy every cd she has ;0 just when I thought all we had was twerkers and jerkers and NOW I know that there is talent out there

This track is taken from a performance for a live audience in the Metropole Orkest's homebase studios in Hilversum, The Netherlands in March 2017. In a jam-packed studio Kandace showed her formidable vocal talent, particularly in Soul Eyes, one of the most beautiful jazz ballads composed by pianist Mel Waldron. Solos are by Bart van Lier-trb en Leo Janssen-ts. The luscious, beautiful arrangement is by Michael Abene.

The conductor had no control over the sax man. Lovely performance.

When soloing/improvising without ochestral backgrounds, a conductor doesn't have to do anything but stand and listen for as long as the solo progresses and only comes back in when orchestral accompaniment is called for in the arrangement.
