I thnk the reason why the Soul of Cinder's theme is so dignified compared to Gwyn's theme because it is supposed to symbol the Lords of Cinders as the kings and heroes who saved the world but when we get to Gwyn's theme we realize then the kingship, the thrones and crowns of the kings are all a mirrage to the spineless truth that this world is very doomed to very die.

I feel like this would happen if your character decided to be a massive ass throughout the entire game for multiple ng+ runs straight. From not delivering the ring from the thief to the old woman, not accepting the pilgrim's help, to things such as killing all friendlies including those at the fire link shrine, from the old hand maid to the keeper herself. The world knows that it's doomed, since you're not only going to take the flame for yourself, you're going to leave everyone for dead and escape as a coward and restart the whole thing to be a dick again, or leech off of other worlds. It knows that it's doomed. A fitting boss fight for this would be a Soul Of Cinder that's flails around its weapons and spells with little to no power behind them and the Gwyn Phase wouldn't even happen. There's no point in it trying anymore.

It tries, but on the inside knows it's all in vain. So it just, lets its body relax, and attacks uncontrollably, hoping that one of its attacks will kill you, but what would that change? You would just respawn, and it would start all over again. I feel like it would be cool if, everytime you die and respawn, the attacks got slower and weaker, until one point Soul of Cinder just falls on it's knees, letting you kill it. It just gives up entirely. What's the point? At some point in time, the player is gonna learn it's patterns and kill it, so Soul of Cinder would rather give up than keep delaying the inevitable.

Because it is fear of the unknown; gwyn fearing the age of dark is akin to how we as mortal humans fear the concept of death. It is something unknown to us, incomprehensible to experience (unless there is a belief of an afterlife). Even until now we won’t directly find out whether the age of dark/man is a better one compared to what the age of fire has become, and that’s kinda the poiint of most of ds lore; leaving little to the imagination and make many things unknown.
