Totally overlooked Ibn Battuah he’s an scholar, geographer and writer that has one of the craziest documented travels in history. He traveled all over from morraco to almost all of Africa to Ethiopia/somalia, then when all over Anatolia, the steppes, the Middle East, India, East Asia etc. I’m reading his book currently it’s fascinating and hilarious

@@Soul_Tomato about a century iirc, until the spires fell off edit, some further info, the cathedral was built in the mid 1070s but was severely damaged in 1185 by an earthquake and had to be practically rebuilt from the ground up, making it one of if not the last project aaron funded. the central spire was added in 1311 making it the largest building in the world and the spire would collapse in a pariculaly bad storm in 1549 which left the cathedral in its modern state, more or less

Akka mahadevi, the term “akka” is just “ elder sister”, like how in common parlance we refer to people as “bro”, “buddy” etc. so Akka is not her name, it’s just a casual prefix. It can he understand to how Catholic priests are called “fathers”, yet father is just a prefix and not a given name.
@Soul_TomatoАй бұрын
So her name is Mahadevi then?
@lakhshyalakey8078Ай бұрын
@@Soul_Tomato even that is complex, as Mahadevi means “Great lady”, which too is a honorific like “Genghis Khan”, while his real name is Temujin. In case of Mahadevi, her given name is lost in time.

Be interested to see if there will be a mod to add more of these figures that Paradox missed. Nasrettin Hoca is actually the arch nemesis of Rumi. Both lived during the mongol occupation of Anatolia. Rumi supported the occupation whilst Ahi supported the local turkmen. It’s even rumoured that Rumi was so hateful of ahi that he took part in his murder. To keep Ahi Evrens Memory alive Turkmen started to tell his stories wherever they went.

I don't like that they used the (wrong) Latinised versions of some people's names. Like "Averroes" is such a bastardisation of the poor guy's name he probably wouldn't even recognise it at all.

@Eltener123 It's more of an anglocentrism in this case, specifically for language. Leaving it in the original name makes no difference for most languages, even European ones, but for whatever reason, English speakers have trouble pronouncing things that aren't in English.
