This backing track allowed me to improvise in a way I didn't even know I could, and it really kickstarted my jazz piano phase and brought me out of the rigid classical style. Thank you so much for the inspiration, I will forever remember this as the video that began my jazz piano journey!

💛 love this comment, definitely felt that way before - for stuff like this you'd probably get the best results setting it up like an 80s/90s RnB band and taking that jazz mentality into it, not unlike some Erykah Badu lineups or something - that way you won't have as many annoying elitists coming to gigs and going "this isn't jazz!", you'll instead get more music fans going "oh daaaang" when you play Of course I'm just a randomer sharing an opinion, but I think the thing you're talking about is super doable and not an unpopular type of band - if you dig this stuff, try it out!

Nice track! Lots of directions we can take over these changes. Thanks! FYI for all the music nerds (and up-coming ones too): the last chord of the bridge should actually be notated as an A7b13, not an A aug. The latter suggests a M7th (A, C#, E#, G#) instead of a -7th. Since this is a dominant chord, you want the -7th. Also, there are more scales available to you over an A7b13. Elevated is not wrong in their notation - this is simply a school of thought difference. (And except for my use of M and - to differentiate between Major and Minor, the above is the Berklee method)

@@kennethbeavers6903 I'm sorry, I was partially wrong. I thought they changed by the chord, but they don't. This is the D Aeolian scale, also known as natural minor. This is a good starting place for playing over the tonic of this track, but you'll be happier playing a B rather than a Bb. That would be melodic or the rising half of the harmonic minor
