I released a friend group in 2024 and did it quietly on my own. They were exactly what you just spoke about. Back biting and 2 face. I've known them from high school, and the majority still act the same. In the relationship department, I started seeing an old friend from years ago who had put up this big facade about growth and change. I signed up for a second go at it a couple months ago after being separated since August 2023. Those 18 months were the worst experience and biggest lesson of my life, so far. I am hopeful that he has gained a little "wisdom" as well though. I would hate to throw away a 14 year marriage. We will see. But tbh, it's not off to a good start.
