I love the orchestral counterpoint! There's still some minor things that could be improved upon, the lack of percussion (and I don't mean drums) in some sections seems an odd choice and the trumpets don't sound as realistic as maybe they could. Maybe French horns would have suited the section better. That all said, the dynamics are great, many of the arrangement choices are well considered and it still stays true to the original. Very well done!

This is real, real, neat. The blackmidi part ofc sounds a little strange in some areas (only in some areas however; the blackmidi you did at the 14 min mark sounds chaotic yet natural); I would be interested in hearing less-of a cover and more-of a reinterpretation of Soulless 5 with a reduction of the blackmidi--something more humanly playable perhaps, as I am convinced it would be reminiscent of the classical style and be more in-sync with your instrument choices. The blackmidi in the original version gives me more of a 'video game' feel with all the bleeps and bloops. That being said, I am glad I was able to experience orchestral blackmidi--very interesting.
@wewladstbh5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your feedback, I'd just like to mention that many sections have been simplified, like escalate A/B, writhing solo, robotic solo and thieves B. And it is all humanly possible to play even if some parts require a lot of skill.

The sheet music probably makes it look harder than it is, cause when you're writing sheet music for orchestra it's common practice to put both flutes/oboes/horns/trumpets etc. on one stave to save paper. So the trumpet part is actually written for TWO trumpets

Excellent fucking work on this. As Exile said, I think one of two problems I have lies in the mixing/mastering (some parts are excessively loud and start clipping). Also I've always had a good ear at picking up notes/chord progressions and not all of them seem accurate to the original (bear in mind this only happens like 2 or 3 times during the whole song). But besides that, this is masterfully composed. You always found ways around re-composing stuff that's hard to fit into an orchestra and it pretty much always works amazingly (e.g. your versions of Chopped Chimneys and Writhing Solo). A lot of the sections actually take on a whole new meaning in the context of an orchestra and it's great, even parts where I'm like "Yeah, Exile totally meant for this to be played by an orchestra". The even more quiet version of Hell's Gate makes that "OH SHIT" moment when Xyphos/Tripped Solo comes in even more intense. Once again, amazing job on this and I hope you continue to make great orchestral "adaptations" of tracks. Also, what program/VSTs did you use for this, if I may ask? I always wanted to add crazy orchestral sections to my own music but never had a good idea of where to start.
