Vital is absolutely INCREDIBLE for a completely free synth. An essential for newcomers at the very least.

Get started with what you can afford and build on that. I stared with nothing but a cheap Zoom H1n.and wind protection and I kept that for a year to learn. Then I added a set of Usi mics with 3.5mm cable and after that moved to a Zoom H6 and bought the Usi XLR cable. Now have those plus a Zoom F3, Earsight Nano mics, Geofon, ElektroUsi, Hydrophone, AT875r shotgun, and the usual wind protection for each plus stereo bar and small tripods. Also added an Arturia MiniLab 3 keyboard which has been great for playing sounds back. Build as you go and as your budget allows. Start small because you never know if you'll ditch the hobby.

I am mostly creating music but I also like working with sound and manipulating. I want to get started with capturing more audio and also adding organic sounds in my productions. Problem is it's just a hobby and where I am from even zoom h1n is 1/5 of my salary. It's hard for me to pull the trigger and buy a mic. I know I am not going to use it much but still I would love to have one and just capture sounds around me. Anyway. What would you consider the best portable recorder to buy on a tight budget? I would go for zoom h1n but I also saw tascam dr-05x and it seems to have better sound quality but it costs like 25% more.

I highly recommend open headphones instead of just headphones because are the closest thing to having a good pair of studios monitors. For example HD 560S are a good choice :D

Yes it is full featured but I think it will just show you a countdown each time before it starts. I have the pay version but I think it does that in the FREE version other then that it all works the same.

Yes, sames features. Developers just allow to use it but due to the low price and the relaxed system they use to control piracy is just a good practique to buy it if you are making something with commercial use :)

For the geofon, which recorder do you recommend?

The best one you can get your hands on, lol. You should be able to get nice recordings with the geofon from pretty much any recorder that has XLR connections.
