I use this with my bass guitar. I had to make a cable with TS 1/4 phone plug to TRS 1/8 plug. (Note this is wired different than the Ci1 cable that goes from guitar to ew-k pack). Works great. All the same features as the rackable ew-d receiver. For a gigging musician the size is perfect for your gig bag. I love that it runs on batteries as well. One less thing to plug in when power is at a premium at a venue.

Hi davep.5662, I am also a bass player. Thank you for this information. I would like to add a wireless system on my pedalboard but I do NOT want to use a 2.4 GHz system. That's why I'm seriously considering buying an EW-D system. For obvious space reasons, I would be strongly interested in using the EW-DP (portable) receiver instead of the EW-D (Rack), just like you ;-) (I have almost no more space in the pedalboard and I want to stay with a compact pedalboard) It would be SO easy to place the portable receiver in the pedalboard. It is so compact. Without wanting to disturb you, I have a few questions: Are you still using the EW-DP receiver? If so, are you satisfied? Important: Is it possible, as with the rack version, to have a unity gain? (Same level as a cable?) I see in the specs that the max output level is much lower than the rack model. Is this a problem for you? I mean, do you easily overdrive the output with unity gain setting ? I see you made a cable with TS 1/4 phone plug to TRS 1/8 plug for the output. You indicate that the wiring is different from the C11 Cable. Could you tell me more please? If all the conditions are met and the result is identical to the rack version, I would be really interested in using the portable receiver rather than the rack version. So easy to integrate into the pedalboard. I just need to fix the power supply because I wouldn't want to use the battery. I have a Voodoo Lab 4x4 power supply and it would make sense to power the EW-DP that way. I just need a DC 12v to USB-C cable. It must exist... Actually, my main question is: If I get the same result as with the rack version, why wouldn't I take the portable version ? Maybe there are reasons I didn't think and I would be interested in hearing your opinion. Thank you so much for your answers.

i did use the ew d for live sound. just one press to sync in my experience. I guest long press might turn it into other syncing mode like conneting to mobile app or resetting the sync but not syncing to the transmitter. for me, working in a wifi and bluetooth crowed space the bluetooth sync still working fine. look forward to the "bigger brother" version of the ew dp.

I think that's it - I was long-pressing sync on the TX when just pressing the sync button quickly seems to work. I made it more complicated. 😂

When i got this mic it has an extra blet clip that fits on the cheesplate and was able to hook this on my bag. Was using the app to access the gain. It's not optimal but it does work.

This isn’t documented well and it’s something we will fix in the next FW release that’s due out in the next week or so… while the RX asks you to press and hold the sync button to connect to the app via BLE, the TX just requires a short press of the sync button. When you press and hold the sync button, it actually puts the TX into a different mode… this is used for when you need to update the FW of the device. When doing a FW update via the app, the app will show “searching” for the TX and there’s no prompt to press and hold the sync button for 3s. Our apologies for the oversight, but it will be fixed shortly!

Thoughts on using it for a wireless speaker. If I'm correct it has 134db so there wouldn't be any distortion similar to how we Dj's use the EK100 g4.

So I spoke with Sennheiser and yes this transmitter does work with the EWDX receiver But more importantly the EWDX transmitters work with this receiver which I think is awesome but you need the extransmitter as much better with eink Display

Not for audio bag. But it can work on a sound cart. Moreover, I think this system would serve well as IFB and for sending a signal to clients, scrip supervisors ..etc

Yes, but I’m that case it would make more sense to go with the EW-D kit so you could connect shark fin LPDA antennae for more reliable range.

Not that I know of. The cable is to combine the output of two receivers to send to a camera with one input. If your camera has a headphone jack, that'd be the place to monitor.

That depends mostly on which mic you use. The included ME2 is not particularly clean in my experience.

@@curtisjudd tried it yesterday and today with a B3 and it seemed a bit noisy. Haven't had time to fully compare with other mics. Can't wait for their XLR plug to test with shotguns.

Got excited they were releasing a new system. Then started scratching my head as to what benefits this has over other products including older systems from Sennheiser. Like the avx system. They have a recorder feature on the mic block adaptor unit released later this year but no record, and redundancy on the body pack lav system which is a complete fail to be honest

The lack of body pack recording is likely because Zaxcom still holds US patents which prevent Sennheiser from adding that. Also, the latency is MUCH lower on this model vs. AVX. (1.9ms on this vs 19ms on AVX)

@@curtisjudd 19ms has never bothered me, ive never noticed it actually. its odd you say that because sennheiser will release a xlr adaptor for a mic later this year as part of the same exact system and that will have recording on the adaptor/tramstitter and also diety has released wireless lav systems at NAB all of which have on board recording in 32bit float. So if everyone else can do it then whats the issue. again they just didnt release anything special here at all. Maybe the magnetic mounts but thats just about it

The bigger question is how many channels can you get into your camera. I’d guess that the practical answer is 2.

Thankyou for the information Deity dodging questions in the Interview with Gotham Audio at NAB. Does anyone have a direct link to the 'cast'? Being in the UK it may not apply to me, but given that I standardised on Aputure B7C and Amaran P60c for my home, and for KZbin creation it seemed sensible to eventually upgrade to Deity for audio. Currently shooting with a Insta360 & 2 Damaged Sony Xperia 1.ii & 1.iii but the camera's still work But if I am ever successful at KZbin I expect to follow the herd not to Sony Canon or Panasonic but to BlackMagic Whilst I loved what Canon has done for MicroDv & the Mark 5 V2. The P2 from Panny is great & obviously Sony is actually making the sensors for everyone. They all seem to be focusing towards the Movie & TV production market. Whilst Black Magic feels more like Aputure & Deity in price performance etc.
