To recreate the acoustics inside Hagia Sophia, they first had to pop a balloon inside the museum. They discovered that unlike modern concert halls, which had echoes of sound that reverberate for about 3 seconds, inside the Hagia Sophia, the echoes reverberated for about 12 seconds!

I am Romanian Orthodox. Hagia Sophia was founded by Christians. The truth is that no matter how many minarets are built next to it or the orthodox icons inside are destroyed, the cathedral will always represent Orthodox Christianity. Turkey has the potential to build dozens of mosques if it does not want to take a huge symbol of Orthodoxy, it has upset tens of millions of Eastern European people in Romania, Greece, Russia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Ukraine and many more. Imagine that we would occupy Mecca and turn it into a Christian church, would you like it? I do not think that the Turkish people agree with this change of Erdogan and I hope that when freedom returns to Turkey and Hagia Sophia will be returned to Orthodoxy.

Let us forget about the research that went into this by Stanford University for a brief moment regarding the simulated acoustics of the cathedral and focus on the hymn itself. Although I do not know where they found this rendition of this particular psalm, me knowing Capella Romana (I’m a huge fan), I am entirely sure that this psalm was found in an old Byzantine manuscript, somewhere like the library of the Iviron monastery in Agion Oros or the National Library of Greece. Therefore it is likely that this particular hymn has not been heard by human ears for centuries. And so, having the chance to listen to this hymn of old days in this unique setting is simply breathtaking. And if you’re Greek or Orthodox? I remember the first time I’ve heard it I was reduced to tears.

it is a perfect metaphor for the entire entity that is Islam: Islam took the 1500y old revelation of God from Abraham to Jesus and defiled it with spiritual graffiti, removing every vestige of truth from the real prophets from Moses to Isaiah and Jeremiah and their prophecies about Jesus and the writings about Jesus and super-imposed the rambling inconsistencies of a false prophet (according to God's standards of a false prophet in Deuteronomy 13 & 18) as "revealed" to Mohamed by a 1 John4:1 demon! Islam took the truth God had revealed about Himself for 1500y before Mohamed was born and concealed it from an entire people under threat of death and violence, disguising the hope of salvation in Jesus Christ and turned it into a lie that takes it adherents to hell by the sword. Tragic indeed, but a perfect metaphor of the vandalism Islam has done to God's word and imparts to the soul that would otherwise be redeemed by Jesus Christ: Islam DESTROYS it!

This issue is actually larger than Christian rights, what Turkey has done has set a new precedent for great cultural and religious monuments of other religions. Christianity is what it is today because of the courage and leadership of past popes/patriarchs/Christian rulers, who stood up against the enemy. I fear for the future with current leadership. There have been many legends, true or false, about Hagia Sophia. All from the cosmic situation of its location to internal details are based on legends. The perspiring column, the healing well, one of the doors made from Noah’s ark, the symbol of ‘Holy Grail’, and Hermes symbols are only some part of the legends. Nevertheless, none of the legends are as great as Hagia Sophia. Indeed, it is the legend itself. The moment Mehmet The Conqueror entered the city, he unwillingly showed his personality. Deeply influenced by the city’s glory, he immediately asked Rum and Frank bishops to learn the founders’ emperors of the city as well as the timeline. In the meantime, he made scholars to translate the books in Hagia Sophia to Turkish. At the end of the middle ages, Sultan was interested in ancient philosophy, but what is he looking for? Being the first public church in the Christian Roman Empire as well as the first main chapel in the Christian world, Hagia Sophia has been evoking admiration since then. The book tells the unique journey of Hagia Sophia.

that s true...Turks did' nt had any kind of civilization at that time...by conquering a highly sophisticated civilization they automatically copied their architecture, their music and even their cuisine. The first Sultan wanted to be named also Rum emperor...as if he continued the glory of the empire he conquered....

I don't care how many minarets they build up or how many icons and frescoes they destroy. Hagia Sofia stands. The gates of Hades will never prevail against her, or Holy Orthodox Christendom.

Unto you, O Theotokos, invincible Champion, your City, in thanksgiving ascribes the victory for the deliverance from sufferings. And having your might unassailable, free us from all dangers, so that we may cry unto you: Rejoice, O Bride Ever-Virgin. The Archangel was sent from Heaven to cry 'Rejoice!'

the Hagia Sophia is a perfect metaphor for the entire entity that is Islam: Islam took the 1500y old revelation of God from Abraham to Jesus and defiled it with spiritual graffiti, removing every vestige of truth from the real prophets from Moses to Isaiah and Jeremiah and their prophecies about Jesus and the writings about Jesus and super-imposed the rambling inconsistencies of a false prophet (according to God's standards of a false prophet in Deuteronomy 13 & 18) as "revealed" to Mohamed by a 1 John4:1 demon!
