Just made mine, used a piece of silicone tubing to trap the floss at the top of the tube and hold the post to the tool. Works a treat, so easy, fantastic , thank you.. .

Nice. Like assembling a ship in a bottle. After trying several homemade gadgets, (probably not for purists) the best for me is to drill a small hole in the sound post about 3/4" from the top of the post across the grain. Then tie a thin strong string with a loose loop through the hole. Tie another string for the other side. Hold one string in one hand and the other string in the other hand, having the post hanging in the middle. Now move the post where you want it and wedge it in. One string comes out one f-hole, and the other string comes out of the other. Leave the strings tied to the post after positioning and push them into the box, so that you can easily reposition the post if it should fall -- no more trying to jiggle it out the f-hole. It's easy to snag one of the strings with the box upside down. Trying to get the best sound is more fun than trying to play the thing.

HA, for sure. I've seen a few that I've picked up for restore. String tied around the soundpost. F holes worn from string being adjusted . Bridge legs scraping the finish forward and back. The old fiddlers adjusting volume for a kitchen party or square dance hall. Where there's will there's a way..

Excellent going to make one now. Much better than original type S shape design.
