This whole fest remains one of the greatest, most fun days of my life, despite the sombre and emotional nature of the fires, which in the summer of '09 were way too close to home for comfort.

Great Show! The brothers Finn killed!
@jasonpaulelder2 жыл бұрын
I have come to appreciate the playful showmanship of Tim Finn, as well as the individual and collective characters of the others, more so recently than before. I'm not even sure why, exactly. I think it has something to do with seeing the duration of the abilities and talents, musically, with a theatrical sense of being entertainers - which reminds me of the early days of vaudeville. In an interesting way, I could even imagine Tim and the full band being in a silent film with slapstick scenes. Apart from that, I very much enjoyed this live performance and have revisited their albums as a result, with Time and Tide being the most listened to at the moment.

Absolutely 100% Tim's stage antics are definitely vaudeville. I noticed that long ago. He always seems a bit insecure, but perhaps that's just part of the act.

Only need to go back and have a look at early Split Enz to see it very evident.

@@hughmcinally907 Oh, sure, I can certainly see that with their makeup, costuming and collective props in the past. My brother had one of their earlier albums, I'm thinking it was "Second Thoughts," where the cover photo looked like an avant garde circus act. I'm sure you've seen the video for "Poor Boy" before. I saw that on early Mtv in the '80s on their 120 Minutes show as a cult classic clip. It features some live footage in those outfits, and showed them being very active on stage..

@@s0ld4u He's a great showman and can really carry a tune. I favored Neil early on, but now I really enjoy Tim's performance even more.

Mushroom records did a good free gig years ago But we still pay hefty ticket prices for events that aren’t sponsored or fundraisers like this, I think it speaks volumes for the home grown artists who have ❤

Sound Relief looks like it will be reborn in 2020 for the current bushfires. All I hope is that it is not overrun by climate change messages.
