Soundgarden ~ Flutter Girl

Ok im not sure if this is soundgarden. I know chris cornell did a song called fluttergirl that has same or similar lyrics to this, on his solo album Euphoria Morning. This could be a demo of him doing that. But when i got this, it was labeled as soundgarden so im not sure.

This song is on Euphoria Morning, but this specific version was a demo recorded by Chris himself at his house during the days of Superunknown in 1994, then was redone for Euphoria Morning in 1999

"Flutter Girl" was an outtake from the Superunknown sessions. The version that appeared on Euphoria Morning was a slightly reworked/degrungified composition.

This is 100 times better than the Euphoria Mouring version - to my ears anyway. The vocal is so much better here, it's pure, passionate mid-90s Chris. The vocal is much more mild and less rock sounding on EM. I never really got the production on the EM version either, the electronic vibe camouflages the song rather than adding to it IMO. I also prefer the solo here to the albums middle 8. This is so amazing though, it's been on repeat for a while. I don't want to turn it off!

Just so people know, this is the original version done by Sound Garden on a studio demo cd, it is a rare cd but very good. This is my favorite version of this song thanks for posting it. :)

I believe I read Somewhere Cameron Crowe wanted a prop cassette for the 1992 movie "Singles" and Chris actually went ahead wrote this during that time frame and named the Cassette "Poncier" which also had the song "Seasons" on it and made an appearance with Matt Dillion giving it away on the street..

Attributing this to Soundgarden is mistaken. This is one of the solo pieces Cornell put together during the filming of the Singles film along with Seasons, Spoonman, Ferryboat #3, etc., and clearly demonstrates what an incredibly talented singer/songwriter he was.

No, he wrote and recorded this along with a song called "seasons" as part of a prop tape that Jeff Ament made for the movie Singles. The tape included the titles Seasons, Spoonman and Flutter Girl. (there might have been one other song name). Cornell thought it would be fun to actually write those, record them and just put the tape in the case for fun. They just ended up being great songs so Seasons, ended up on the singles soundtrack, Spoonman obviously ended up a soundgarden song and this ended up on euphoria mourning. This sounds like the version he recorded at that time. Acoustic guitar sounds similar to the recorded sound of Seasons.

Pretty sure he said in concert a couple of times that he went home and wrote Seasons to put on that tape. He made it sound as though he had done it alone as a surprise for everyone. I will have to check my recordings...

One is called 'Ferry Boat #3' which is an early version of The Curse by Audioslave. Figured you might want a listen as you're a fan.
