The first 3 albums of Soundgarden from The EP UltraOmega OK, Louder than Love & BadMotorFinger is Soundgarden at its best. The Louder than Love album which has Hands All Over captures the driving growling grunge sound, the tracks Gun, Big Dumb Sex, Loud Love are great as well. Beyond the wheel & Flower off UltraOmega Ok are classic. Can't go wrong with Badmotorfinger. I have to say possibly the best live show I had ever seen to was in 1991 in Tiajuna, Mexico just weeks before the release Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger, they performed most of that album which the crowd & myself had heard for the first time, and had blown us away. That show was the true moment of Zeitgeist, you & the band could feel that they were on the verge of something big! And a few weeks later both Badmotorfinger & Nirvanas Nevermind would be released on the same day.

This album is the 1st 'grunge' I heard. Saw one paragraph 'review' of it in Rolling Stone and thought OK, I'll try it. Got the cassette and put it in the walkman (not even kidding) and it was some leap from everything else that I knew. And it certainly has stood the test of time.

Glad to hear you giving some of Soundgarden's earlier stuff a blast, though this was actually their second full album, not their first. First proper album was "Ultramega OK", but it's a classic nonetheless. It was actually the first song I heard by Soundgarden back in 1990 when I was just 17. Loved it so much I went out and bought the album "Louder Than Love" on vinyl the following weekend and they have remained one of my favourite bands ever since. If you like this then give "Mountain Song" by Jane's Addiction a go. I'm sure you'll love it :)

#shadowgallery #ibelieve #germany Approx 22years ago, I was a kid of 16 with growing long hair, lessons on eguitar and a first girlfriend, I explored bands such as Symphony X or Shadow Gallery. This was new stuff for me, after I grew up with Manowar, MSG or listened first to Helloween when I was 6 years old. This album and especially this song "I believe" was my personal soundtrack after my first love broke up. Forgot about the girl, still love the song

Hey guys, just finally subscribed after watching over 50% of your videos, lol. Not that I was on the fence but I guess I just got stuck in that rabbit hole of a selection you have. Anyway, I like how into the music you are and the fact that you have musical background makes you appreciate the intricacies that go into each part. Since you like prog, power metal and symphonic bands as well, maybe this would be a good channel to request a band that I hardly ever see reacted to and it's a shame because they really started the whole prog metal scene, even before Dream Theater and Queensryche. The band is called Fates Warning and although he may have not listened to them much, I'm sure Rich has at least heard of them, if not heard some of their songs. I don't even know if I can pick just one song to request, because they have so many good ones but I can give you 5 recommendations, in no particular order: Through Different Eyes, Face the Fear, Silent Cries, Still Remains and A Pleasant Shade of Gray Part 5. A reaction to the entire Pleasant Shade of Gray album would actually be a dream come true and I know you would love it, about as much as you were into Dream Theater's Metropolis Part 2.

#Yes Gates of Delirium, Warsaw, Poland (kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5XQhnSpipeYjqs) (Based very losely musically and lyrically upon "War and Peace" by Tolstoy, it is yet another rock symphony, a piece of music by itself, showcasing the huge talents of Jon Anderson (main vocals, tambourine, acoustic guitar), Steve Howe (all guitars, backing vocals), Chris Squire (bass and backing vocals), Patrick Moraz (all keyboards) and Alan White (drums, percussion). The rest about the song (and the lyrics) is included under the link I provided.)

react to *Sabaton - Carolus Rex* You won't be dissapointed. It's about Karl XII who became King of Sweden at the age of 14. Three neighbouring countries decleared war against him in thought it would be an easy quest but oh man were they wrong. He won battles facing 3rd the amount of men, a frontman as king any country would dream to have.

As an old bastard who resented the grunge movement with a passion, Soundgarden along with Alice in Chains were the only 2 "grunge" band that I didn't hate. IMO Louder than Love was their best. But that seems to happen with a lot of bands before they get famous. Loud Love is also a great tune. Edit - Thanks Kel for making me feel better about my old resentment for Grunge. I spent 8 hours a day in my bedroom (by choice) playing scales and shiz to be a better metal player, then grunge came and basically said "fuck your time, fuck your skill, fuck your fun times"

#LordOfTheLost Loreley Owego, NY Honestly You could pick ANY song by this band e.g. "Black Halo", "Voodoo Doll", "Haythor", etc Chris Harms is an amazing vocalist on top of him being insanely talented in a lot of instruments both rock and classical you can tell there is a deep love and respect for making music in everything they do with a tinge of fun and insanity mixed in for good measure. However what puts this band on my constant rotation is the level of detail they put into the artwork for their videos and by art work i mean everything from the set pieces to the insane makeup jobs they have on but it's not makeup for the sake of makeup a la early KISS. You can tell the intent of the makeup is to enhance the music and vocals while simultaneously and separately communicating something on a deeper unspoken primal level. In a nutshell its not something words can adequately describe you HAVE to experience it for yourself but I GUARANTEE you will finish one of their videos feeling SOMETHING even if its uneasiness at knowing there is something more there but not being able to put your finger on it.

#KingCrimson Starless, Warsaw, Poland (kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZe1Z5KMbpaZfZo) (because that's how an excellent combination of progressive and jazz rock sounds like; because of the hypnotising one-note guitar solo inthe middle of the song - accompanied by those haunting bass sounds - and because how the song progresses from a quiet ballad to jazz-rock-progressive improvisation of instruments at the same time competing and co-operating. Robert Fripp on all guitars, mellotrons and other keyboards, John Wetton on bass and vocals, and Bill Brufford (who later - and earlier - played with Yes) on drums and percussion.)

#Genesis Supper's Ready, Warsaw, Poland (kzbin.info/www/bejne/m2Wrl3mti95gnpI) (This was one of the first songs that introduced me to genesis before I heard both earlier and later stuff made by them. It showcases their mastery, sensitivity, and in itself creates multiple melodic, but also lyrical, layers which overlap and borrow from each other but using different contexts. Lurically wise, metaphorical but difficult to grasp at the first hearing. Musically a world of its own. I recommend the illustrated version as it depicts pt etty much darn closely what can be gleaned from the lyrics.)
