We are at a crossroads. One path leads to destruction. The other is living together in harmony with nature. Ancient Hopi Prophecy interpreted by Hopi religious elders Thomas Banyacya and Grandfather David Monongye.
Videotaped in 1972 by Dean and Dudley Evenson at the first United Nations Conference on the Human Environment in Stockholm, Sweden. The last part of the video shows Thomas Banyacya in 1993 at a Dalai Lama event in Tucson, Arizona where Dean and Dudley caught up with him almost 20 years after the first video.
Stewart Brand, founder of the Whole Earth Catalog, had sponsored 15 Native Americans to attend the first United Nations Earth Summit in Stockholm to share their message about Mother Earth for the diplomats and young people gathered there. Dean and Dudley were there with their half-inch Sony Video Portapack to videotape events in and around the conference. The Native Americans they met inspired them to share the message about respecting and caring for the planet. In 1979 Dean and Dudley founded their record label, Soundings of the Planet, with a mission of Peace Through Music and planetary healing.

The government did have a federal prison camp on top of Mount Lemmon back in the days. Ive lived in Tucson, Arizona my whole life and have been to Mt. Lemmon hundreds of times and they have monuments that tells the stories of how the roads were built by imprisoned native people, colored and oriental people. They made them build the roads against their will for no pay, they made them their slaves to do the manual labor. And to know that the Hopi Religious elder (Thomas Banyacya) was one of those prisoners is so sad and hits home for me (literally). The book of Mormon says the natives came across the Atlantic. The Navajo (my elders, I am Diné), say that we came from the east, over actual land bridge into the Athabaskan (Canada) region and followed the mountains. The BoM speaks of massive battles which took place between the Lamanites and Nephites, but there has been ZERO archeological evidence found to support that. Not even one shield, spear, bow (made of brass or other metals) which are expressly described in the BoM. I live in Utah and converted to Mormonism when I was 9. Needless to say, especially after researching things the church tries to suppress (e.g.: The Kinderhook Plates, the actual interpretation by modern Egyptologists of the illustrations within the Book of Abraham, etc,.) The church is rife with deception and I could no longer let that be foundational to my identity. That being said, I DO believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God and our savior and redeemer, though. The Church is also responsible for a great amount of subjugation of Navajo and Hopi people in the 20th century. Many generations lost their songs and language due to the church's influence here. The Mountain Meadows massacre was also an egregious affront to the natives in the St. George area.
