Crane operator said "no, I can't lift you". So I climbed it... Turn this one up, it's good... "We are all apprentices in a craft where no one ever becomes a master." - Ernest Hemingway Climb High, Work Smart, Read More. - Patrick

So I typed the comment below at 8:46…. The ability to judge the balance of these limbs is legit professional! A joy to watch. Thanks for modeling crane work etiquette and tree work on in general

People always ask why its expensive to take a tree down.!!!! Well here's some of the answer.!!! Just watch this guy's skills. Well done sir
@mrvang80774 ай бұрын
It's only expensive when you are paying someone to cut it down. And dispose of the tree. If you're a handy dandy DIY you can do it yourself taking into consideration that you are doing it safety with the proper gears and power tool.

@@mrvang8077 God no, it's a job for professionals not have a go hero's. That's why so many home owners get killed every Year. They watch a few Y.T videos and think they are August Hunike or Reg Coates, 🙄

Especially with spikes on, I definitely would have had my foot farther away from that first cut. Excellent span rigging and shelf cuts. Only the last branch pick came back towards

That butt log was quite the pick for that boom angle. Excellent work Patrick.

Seriously… amazing pick points! This is “tree whisperer “ level! Or crane whisperer. I’m not even sure it’s that good

I really dig the old school homemade chainsaw lanyard. I have a couple I still use myself. Stay safe.💪

I've always done trees the old fashioned way so not much crane work but i know balls made of steel when i see them. Must be a tremendous rush cutting those. 💪

@@TreeMuggs_PatrickM I've done a few crane jobs but nothing near that size cuts. It was a crane that grabs the limbs and not a cable but being new at using a crane i was nervous.

Outstanding Patrick. Do you use a sorta `Rule of thumb` for estimating a big limbs weight vs the boom capacity?
@TreeMuggs_PatrickM3 ай бұрын
There's a green log weight chart that helps, for limbs we just go back and forth, I estimate before cutting and then operator tells me what it actually weighs, takes a few picks to get it dialed in

15.40 nice crane pick. This is why you love doing It. What was the age of the tree?

EXCELLENT JOB!! Were you using a clove hitch when you were tying on the limbs?

Nice balanced picks. 15:30 looked a bit butt puckery.

Smooth as anything! Brilliant work. The three lines from the crane is that your preference or crane guy? Seems very logical and helpful. Espeically with loose ends and no hardware/chains

Appreciate it. Those slings are sold as a set from Maple Leaf Ropes. They are 3/4" Double braid with the core pulled out and replaced with dyneema. Super heavy duty and the best option I've ever used for balancing picks...

No bother mate keep doing what you do and sharing those skills. I appreciate you elaborating on that, definately ropes I’d like to get hold of

That went about as well as they can go. That's good capacity for being so far from the street! Still not allowed to ride the crane out there?
@TreeMuggs_PatrickM4 ай бұрын
Yeah, just depends on the operator, but lots of them say no....
