I live in Blenheim and can't get my head around Ship Cove to Hanmer in one leg. Respect! Bloody good effort.

You're both so hard core and fit! It's my dream to bike pack New Zealand but not in a rush. I love gravel bikes! 😊

This is brilliant Joe, oh to be young again! Three of us relatively untrained 70 year olds, with my wife as support crew in our white Ssangyong Rexton, rode from Bluff to Nelson starting 25 Feb, having no idea about the Sounds to Sounds. Our route took us up the Hakataramea and then over the McKenzie Pass on 3 March, and I reckon we passed you grinding up near the summit around 1.30-2pm, and you looked like you were totally cooking in the heat. We came across bike packers following you at various random points on our trip north, including Rockford Road near Fairlie, Geraldine, Ram Paddock Road heading to the Hurunui, Hawarden and Hamner, all badass and in good spirits, a lot of women and older folk. All very inspiring, congratulations mate!

I remember your name from early DH races, sick. You're an absolute mad man still, but for a different type of riding

Well done mate! How do you keep the gut intact after all that sugary processed food for 5 days? How many calories burnt in total? #maddog
@joe.nation Жыл бұрын
Thanks mate!! Yeh the gut is definitely the hardest part of this sport. This is the first ride that it hasn’t been a factor for me… potentially the lowered intensity but also added as many fats to the diet as possible instead of just sugary carbs. Easier said than done though. Pretty personal thing i think

would gravel tires be fine on double fence line? thanks
@joe.nation2 ай бұрын
yeh there are some rocky bits which would be smarter to walk with low volume gravel tyres, to avoid puncturing, but it's doable, just not ideal

How da fuk can anyone cycle 300km a day!? That's insane. Respect. I hope Rufus is doing fine.
