@@df5485 Yes, because yes, the Pioneer has full-band Dirac and the Denon, you have to purchase a license for it. Why? Because you can add the bass module to Dirac with DLBC with the Denon, the Pioneer you cannot. So if I understood correctly, I can have one audyssey calibration on preset 1, and 3 Dirac calibrations with different levels, distances, curve eq, etc…, on preset 2? After selecting one of my Dirac filters can I go back to Speakers Manual Setup on the menu and adjusts the settings like leves and distances for each of my Dirac calibrations? I like the new function on the speaker menu that duplicate the LFE from the subwoofer and sent it to my front towers, can I set this manually to each of my 3 Dirac calibrations too?

As an audiophile with a system featuring dual 16-inch subwoofers (SVS PB16 Ultra and Monolith 16 THX Ultra), I had high expectations for Dirac Live and its Bass Control module. While Dirac excels at clarity, precision, and creating a balanced soundstage, it falls short in fully unleashing the potential of high-performance subwoofers. Pros: Exceptional Clarity: Dirac delivers crystal-clear sound, with tight integration between speakers and subs. Room Correction Accuracy: It does a fantastic job managing room modes, ensuring no boomy or muddy bass. Customizable Target Curves: The ability to modify frequency curves is a welcome feature for tailoring sound to individual preferences. Cons: Bass Taming: Dirac often over-corrects bass, making it sound overly restrained. For dual high-powered subs, this approach can feel like it’s holding the system back. Lack of Enthusiast Modes: There’s no built-in bass-forward profile for those who prefer a more cinematic or music-focused experience. Complexity: While powerful, Dirac’s interface and adjustments can be overwhelming for users who want straightforward enhancements without spending hours tweaking. Final Thoughts: Dirac Live with Bass Control is an incredible tool for audiophiles seeking precision and balance, but its default approach doesn't fully cater to bass enthusiasts with high-end systems. With manual adjustments to the target curve and subwoofer levels, you can regain the visceral impact your system is capable of. However, it would be great if Dirac introduced more intuitive bass-focused presets or better integration for massive subwoofers. For now, it's a great starting point but requires work to achieve the full potential of a truly immersive system. Rating: 4/5 - Outstanding clarity and correction, but too reserved for bass lovers without extra tuning.

Great video. I've found a bug with the MultEQ Editor app on my denon 3800h when using multiple subs. When using the OSD audysee setup through the receiver, Audysee correctly measures my subwoofer distances at 3 separate distances. However, when using the MultEQ Editor app, audysee measures the response of all 3 subs, but instead set the subwoofer distance of all three subs at the same distance as my sub that's located the farthest away. For example, directly through the receiver, sub 1 is 15.6 ft, sub 2 is 15.9 ft, and sub 3 is 23.8 ft. Through the Editor app, all subs are set to 23.8 ft which skews the subwoofer response prior to EQ being applied. The only way to change the distances to the correct distance is AFTER EQ has been applied, which is not ideal as the frequency response is drastically changed by setting the distance of subs to their correct delays. Hopefully this issue can be corrected, as the benefits of using the Editor app for the rest of the speakers made a huge difference! Live the sound, but I know my sub eq is "off" after changing the distances post EQ being applied. Thanks again for the great video.

@@11eagleye97when you run the Dirac calibration, immediately export a test filter. Go into the Denon setup screen and go to the Audio->Subwoofer and check to see what Dirac has determined for your subwoofer level. You want the Direc to set the Denon's subwoofer level at -6 or so. It may take a few tries. Adjust your subwoofer level on the subwoofer and if you are using an amplifier for your speakers, you can adjust those as well (relative to your subwoofer) until you get about -6. You don't want your subwoofer volume knob to be much more than 50% during the calibration, and you should be able to get -6 while doing this. Once you do that, you can boost the subwoofer levels by a few dB in Dirac, and then after you export your filter and you still want more bass, increase the volume knob on the subwoofer until you are happy. I have an SVS SB3000 Pro and it should have no problem pressurizing your room size, as long as that roof is completely sealed with closed doors and closed windows.

The main difference is that Dirac adjust the phase and Audessy does not. I have tested both on my Denon AVR 4800, and because the Dirac can adjust the phase, I get almost perfect integration between my two subs and my main speakers. With Audessy , the two subs and the main speakers, cancel each other out at certain frequencies, causing a major decrease in overall bass. Yes, I can adjust the phase on my subs, but this applies to all frequencies the sub plays, so while I can get decent integration at some frequencies, I am not getting good integration at all frequencies. With Dirac, the overall sound of my bass is now way better and my sub amps are putting out way less power as the speakers are properly in phase and not fighting one another. That being said, very frustrating that Dirac does not have any type of loudness compensation or night mode like Audessy.

Audyssey fits the needs of most of our customers looking for a simple setup solution. Adding both licenses would have increased the price for everyone., but we wanted to give users the option to choose Dirac.

@@SoundUnitedTraining I know, I just thought it was a bad analogy 😉 I just received my X3800H today 😁 great machine! Even without Dirac, just would have liked to know that the Audyssey app was paid as well, but I don't think I'm missing out on much

@@SoundUnitedTraining One mayor annoyance; controlling the volume with the remote is either too slow when you go step by step, or waaay too fast when you hold the volume up/down button, volume down would be fine too have go fast, but volume up should never go that fast!!! My cat could literally walk on the remote and blow my eardrums if I don't put the remote away safely and I'm not near the receiver (and yes it'll overpower my speakers and might damage them, I can easily hear them clipping at high volumes even with the volume limiter, and I'd not say they're bad speakers (Teufel ultima 40 5.1)

If you need a better Dirac service, get the Onkyo RZ50

Too complicated, too expensive.

How much delay you can add to speakers.. Oh wait you will hit the brick wall. Thanks for ignoring this fact.

So does direc live also set speaker levels spl, distance, etc.?
@SoundUnitedTraining Жыл бұрын
Yes it sets to parameters, but it currently does not offer bass management so you will have to determine speaker size and crossover points manually.

@@SoundUnitedTrainingso we don’t have to manually enter distances or level match all speakers before running Dirac? I ran for the first time today and i got red exclamation points on quite a few speaker measures. Distances & levels all read 0 after importing to Denon. Thanks in advance.
@brysonfitzgerald52385 ай бұрын
@@UnitedRedDevil13no, Dirac does all of that automatically. There is some other problem. I have never received red warnings like you state.

One question , is there any sense to use this MiniDSP Unik 1 to measure for AUdyssey calibration to achieve better results than defoult mic ?????
@SoundUnitedTraining3 ай бұрын
The MiniDSP UNIK 1 is not compatible with Audyssey. Since the mic calibration file is built into Audyssey (Receiver, Mobile app and MultiEQ-X software) the included mic works perfectly fine,
