ARTIST FACTS: DIMASH KUDAIBERGEN is a Kazakh singer, songwriter, & multi-instrumentalist. Born in Aktobe Kazakhstan, Central Asia: May 24, 1994. He was trained in classical & contemporary music, and is well known for his exceptional widest vocal range. I still browse the music videos of Dimash from time to time to see what still store in there. I’m just wondering how much effort and strength Dimash had invested into it, to reach such a powerful voice and the many other talents that he had. Indeed it is really a great work. How he was able to develop such a heights of his talents is really admirable and worth learning and imitating. And it is much more beautiful because he sang it by heart, naturally and at his heart’s content with joyful disposition. The discipline, dedication and high ideals in pursuing his career the best he can is worth imitating not only in our individual professional fields but also in living out our day to day life. His hard work for years is indeed bearing good fruits in abundance. And so my heartfelt congratulations to Dimash and his family and all others who supported him all the way through as a musician. For me as a public listener it counts a lot the personal disposition of the artist and the good content and message of its music. The fact that, he is able to sing his music at maximum or more than 6 octaves with ease and comfort in different languages and in various voices is really amazing. But some others also cannot handle and cannot even believe the power, the strength and the heights of his voice…and they said Ooh… is Dimash human..? Alien..? Etc, I think It’s just a natural reaction that people wonder and be surprise by it or cannot even believed it at all, it’s because it is beyond human expectation. I believed that Dimash 21 year’s cultivation of his voice and talents is no tricks and no magic at all; though he is gifted by God with grace for music but his years of hard work of practice and experiences proved it to us and to the world … that indeed it is possible. My other concern whenever I listen to music is that, I usually ask: WHAT MESSAGE THIS MUSIC BRINGS ..? TO THE WORLD..? TO PEOPLE..? Although Dimash music are very good, full of content and meaning but I like most this music, because for me it speaks a message of truth, values and realities of human life. I feel that, it is not just enough to give my thumbs up to like this music, but I’m deeply moved to share something more about the richness and deeper meaning of it. With due respect to the composers, writers and singers of these music for whatever their purpose and intention would be, will always take precedence. The thoughts that I will be sharing below is only the fruits of my personal reflections based on the things that I highly valued and on how I perceived it myself and the message of this song that reaches out to me. I like this music because it reminds me the Truth, Realities and Precariousness of Human Life particularly Suffering and Death) SONG FACTS: The song is from French Rock Opera called Starmania. Originally it was sung by Daniel Balavoine who had a sudden death in a helicopter accident in 1986, who is known of his beautiful voice. Later, it was covered by Gregory Lemarchal, a young French singer who inspired Dimash to sing “SOS d'un terrien en detresse” who at all odds won the 4th series Reality TV Program Star Academy, despite his failing health and became an overnight success in France but had a shorter career, for he died young with his unusual illness of Cystic Fibrosis in 2007 at the age of 23. Recently it was unbelievably covered by Dimash and from time to time Dimash sung it in memory of his great friend Denis Ten an Olympic figure skater from Kazakhstan who was stabbed after a dispute with people who allegedly tried to steal a mirror from his car in his home city of Almaty. He died of massive blood loss from multiple wounds at the age of 25 in 2018. The song has sad lyrics: “a soul’s plea for help or an earthly being in distress” because it is a human being who is in anguish searching for the absolute. MY THOUGHTS AND OPINION OF THIS SONG (REF CCC): Suffering and death is one of the realities of human life. It is important that we should know the basic truth about it, so that it will not cause us fear and distress in our human life’s , but rather to remind us all of our ultimate destiny as people of faith. For me, there are 3 kinds of suffering we experienced in life: 1st suffering that God allows, 2nd suffering which is the results of our own choices and decisions and 3rd is the suffering which is cause by other people to us. In whatever forms of suffering we are experiencing, know that, if it is discerned well it will gain us eternal merit. Note that, it is not important how much and how long we suffer, or who cause us to suffer, but how is our attitude towards it when it comes into our life…? All of these three can be an opportunity of grace that we will grow in virtue, when we accept it with humility, discernment and faith in God. Our usual human tendency is, if we can, we try to avoid any kind of pain and suffering in our life. However we can’t deny also that life is mixed up of many learning experiences both in joys and in difficulties and I supposed we need it both, because it contributes and helps us mature and grow over time in many aspects of life. Suffering and death may seem contrary to our own human thinking or world’s way of thinking but in it, there’s a certain wisdom which is richer and deeper that no one can fully understand. Suffering reminds us the real fact that we are all fragile human beings; that we are limited and we are not God. Sufferings are human reality and consequences of sin that affects us all. It helps us see the real worth and value of things and meaning in life. It sharpens our awareness that this earth is not our permanent and true home. We should remember that we are only strangers and pilgrims on this earth”. Suffering purifies and refines us of any life’s superficiality into an authentic one. Though no one really is actively searching for suffering in his / her life, but honestly truth compels us to admit that sufferings do have a great value in our life and by experiencing it personally in reality, you will never be the same person. But through the original sin that enters human lives, our nature has been wounded, and is now subject to suffering and death. This was not part of God’s original plan, but now is already part of our human lives reality. Death for us is a frightening mystery because we are being stripped off of all our attachments to this world; our body lies corrupt; our immortal soul goes to meet the Lord. We will see the whole truth of our lives, and we will face God’s judgment. Death creates in us a feelings and emotion of fear, separation, sadness and pain. Many times we evade this reality and we try to question and even argue with God why…? But all our efforts failed because whether we like it or not at the end, we all die. Death comes in our life anytime anywhere. No material things, good health, young age can guarantee of its extension. The truth is… in front of death we are all poor and powerless. If this life were the only one we had, death would definitely be the great tragedy. Death is such a peaceful, joyful event in our life, if we die reconciled with God and at peace with others as well. Death is unknown to all of us, therefore, it is best that we should prepare at all times. Yes he was. This was 4 years ago. He was 22...We call him our heavenly angel. He is possesed...by an angel. He preforms vocal gymnastics. ALL the girls are in love with him, Including me. We all saw him grow over these few years and mature. I found him in October 2018...I have to hear him every day.

Dimash is the personification of love. For his young dears, that "love" is probably about falling in love afterall Dimash is really handsome young guy. For others, irrespective of gender, Dimasn is, I think loved for so many other attributes : his art is, as you say, other-worldly and for me, unfathomable. It,s a trascendentale experience........he reaches depths within that can arouse so many emotions both positive and negative, depending on the music, the lyrics telling the story and Di mash'is magnetic rendering. Very cool reaction! It was much the same for me a few years ago when I first heard him: gobsmacked disbelief. As you'll hear in the comments, almost any song done by Dimash will yield the same result -- delight, amazement..... The variety of songs/styles this boy can sing is simply without parallel. He improves anything he touches. You might not like certain songs-as-songs for one reason or another, but he never performs badly.

Nothing like AGT or any similar show in the West, this was a chinese show for highly respected, and famous professional singers to compete, Dimash from Kazakhstan was the only non Chinese singer invited because the producer saw him perform for the Chinese and Kazakh presidents and was very impressed. He is from Kazakhstan in Central Asia, so half in Europe and half in Asia, he is 6ft 3 inches (191 cm) tall and was the youngest ever competitor here in 2017 at only 22 years old and the people you see backstage are his competitors. This was his first performance on the show and the audience went wild for him. When the show was broadcast on tv he had to have bodyguards for the first time in his life as he had become a superstar overnight in China with around 600 thousand hits on Weibo. His first album in 2019 went platinum in 37 seconds and triple platinum in under an hour, sales are now way past this. He is now a world class artist, still just turned 26 on the 24th of May but touring the world to sell out arenas with his solo concerts, including the Barclays Centre in New York last December (tour is on hold until next year due to covid-19) he also performs in concerts with the famous russian composer Igor Krutoy, is constantly collecting awards, attends many prestigious red carpet events, film festivals and even models for lots of high end fashion houses. He is university trained in Classical opera vocals to degree level, also holds a degree in contemporary pop music and jazz with a major in vocals, has completed a Broadway Musical Masterclass and has now graduated his Masters Degree with Honours in music composition with a top mark of 100%, he is now doing his PhD. He has been having singing lessons from the age of 5 when his teacher noticed he had perfect pitch . He was offered a place at the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but respecfully turned it down to persue his own more contemporary musical career. He is a multi instrumentalist, more than 8 instruments and also sings in 12 different languages and has a range of over 6 octaves from a low bass A2 to a high soprano in full head voice, , plus a whistle register with his highest note so far being a 5 second D8 with vibrato. He is widely recognized as the best vocalist in the world. He speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, is studying English and Mandarin and has conversational skills in both but not quite fluent yet. He is kind, humble, generous and modest, a very elegant, well bought up young man. His Dears are his very loyal fans and we number over 114 fan clubs in 120 countries globally and number in the millions, he calls us Dears because we are so dear to him, just like his family. Dimash is 22 in this video. SOS is great in both versions but you have to also listen to the Slavic Bazaar version where he wears the tie. There is no greater voice than the voice of Dimash. Not that the winner was a better singer but she is a long time performer who has many fans in China. She's like their Barbara Streisand, so he didn't win. Dimash is crazy versatile, sings from the heart & soul, and on top of that, such a humble & kind human being. Amazing! Owh, and btw, I don't think he reached a wistle register here, he can go much higher. You'll really recognize his whistle register when he hits them. Crazy good, pure whistle tone! It's almost not human! But save that for future reactions, ease up with the other ones first :D... Owh, and this wasn't his lowest note either :D ... Though, Dimash dislikes talking about his range, coz there's more to performing than that right? But it's still impressive nonetheless.

S.O.S. at Slavic Bazaar is the best live version of the song for me! ❤ You don't have to watch it again though. Maybe on your own time, but I prefer you just move on to his other songs. This was in 2017 and he was the first contestant on The Singer show in China. This performance catapulted Dimash onto the world stage! I discovered him just a week after this. 😍😍😍

Tommy...It's fun to go back to his 2017 performances on the Chinese tv competitiin show "I am Singer." That show launched him to stardom. He did a wide variety of songs and many were very challenging for him. He has a lot of confidence and is fearless when it comes to performing. Balances out his humble personality. He passed on an offer to join the Kazakh National Opera when he was 22. He wants to blend classical with pop. He loves Pavarotti and Michael Jackson so his music can be a weird blend. To see him do a variety I suggest "Daybreak"(Bastau Concert), "Ogni Prieta" (not the fan cam version), and "Screaming" (Idol Hits)

This isn't his peak, though, this is not even his best performance of this song, is just the performance which made him a star overnight and earned him a huge amount of fans, who he later named "dears". It's also the first thing most of us heard from him, so it will forever be in our memory joined with the feelings, the awe, of that first time. He sings this song in all his concerts, with small variations in the vocal arrangement, and often with changes in the instrumental arrangement too. By the way, a good side effect of following Dimash, is that by watching reactions one is able to find and enjoy other good musicians and singers, who would have hardly known otherwise. Now I could enjoy also some of your own performances, so thank you also for that,.

To be honest both of his SOS performances from Slavic bazaar and also from the Tokyo jazz festival are both very different, and both entirely worthy. The Tokyo jazz festival is him stripped down in his home studio because of COVID-19. In addition you can watch another dozen videos of him and be blown away each time with something new, so you may want to save these other versions for down the road, you can’t go wrong with either way. His dears are addicts & we’ll watch everything you put out :)

Welcome to Dimash world, this is the first song and performance I watched of Dimash and at the end I thought, finally I found my THE VOICE, I must tell you each S.O.S. you hear sang by Dimash has it's own spice. So far I've yet to find a music of Dimash that I don't like and that I don't hear repeatedly. Daididau, Autumn Strong and Daybreak (check Gloria Wu Channel for the true stories behind them).
