What I love is how much Soundwave cares for his cassette kids cause he can also feel their pain. In IDW’s MTMTE comic, Ravage gets torn in half by another decepticon and dies later in Megatron’s arms. This happened on another planet and Soundwave was on cybertron. At that moment, Soundwave started crying on the spot and fell to the ground cause he knew Ravage died.

Soundwave is quite often sad in the IDW comics. While I’m a huge fan of those comics, I think they went a bit too Shattered Glass level over the top in portraying the ‘cons as good guys who got kicked in the head by life (and I love the ‘cons). Soundwave and Shockwave are the most robotic of the lot and this is because they do not think like humans at all compared to nearly everyone else in the franchise (including the insane characters). Soundwave is way more alien than he looks, a gestalt made of networked minions who really cares only about information and his job as a secret agent-operative, whereas Shockwave’s goals are beyond human understanding in terms of scale. Emotional, no. Loyal, not really. But Megatron rules for a reason, he has people management skills whereas Soundwave and Shockwave are the weird, quiet nerds.

The most dangerous position in the Decepticon hirachy is the leader, because to keep the leader strong, he always has to be prepared to be challenged by others. So to have work peace he needs someone to take off focus from him, and no other con is better at that than Megatron. So even if Megatron shouts out the orders and attacks Optimus, the true leader is hiding right infront of them, doing the ultimate deciept.

Well, here’s how I see it Laserbeak: The pet bird Ravage: The pet cat Rumble: Soundwave’s son essentially Soundwave: The loving father/owner I read somewhere that if one of them were to die, Soundwave would feel their pain, almost like they’re extensions of himself, apparently there’s a thing where Ravage dies in Megatron’s arms off on some other planet and back on Cybertron, Soundwave breaks down crying because he knows Ravage is dead The Decepticons aren’t exactly evil, in truth, the Autobots are a resistance and the Decepticons just really care about their home world, so it’s less them being evil and more them wanting to restore Cybertron to it’s former glory by any means necessary

I remember in one episode, Megatron once referred to Shockwave as the ideal soldier who is both humble and respectful but I would say that Soundwave embodies all of those qualities, he has never questioned Megatron nor has he ever tried to challenge his leadership. He is the only Decepticon who is completely loyal to the cause and is the only troop Megatron truly values. In my opinion, the Decepticons would be lost without him.

I've loved Soundwave since forever. He is without a doubt the best and most loyal Decepticon (He even warns Megatron of Starscream's attack at 2:07. ) I love his voice and the way he speaks, so chilling. Not to mention the fatherly relationship his has with his children-er, cassettes. All the times he's screamed *_"RAVAGE!"_* every time he's in danger is so touching (that sound 4:39 XD).

It’s some kind of vocal harmonic effect. If you can whistle and hum at the same time, you’ll hear something similar. The pitches of his voice is played with fluctuations that REALLY match his emphasis and what he’s saying. STONE COLD MASTERWORK

Soundwave was TOO robotic, excuse the pun, he isn't a leader he's a follower, not saying that's wrong, but when you have a 2nd in command you don't want a "YES" man. Just like his cassettes are purely loyal to him, none of them would ever question soundwave and that's not exactly a good thing in warfare, you as a leader need to welcome conflicting ideas and opinions from your underlings, as a leader you want all angles to think about.

It would seem that during the first season episodes, Soundwave's words are based primarily on C-chords. In the second season we start hearing a wider variety of chords and notes (I'm a musician, I pick this stuff up). And the harder, more commanding his words get, the more intense his musical notes become. ("Meteor shower! Meteor shower!")
