Ganguly was instrumental in helping shape Indian talent which was evident in 2003 World Cup with only 2 losses against Australia while they completely outplayed NZL, ENG, PAK, SRL, ZIM. Before that since Ganguly became captain after 1999 debacle, after Azhar Jadeja were out, Sachin lost his captaincy too, we didn't win any major & lost mostly in the finals of the tournaments. But Kaif won us Natwest 2002 with Yuvraj, and saw us through the line even after Yuvraj got out, further cemented Ganguly's strategy of playing 7 batsmen with Kaif @ 7, he made Dravid keep gloves, which Dravid didn't like, but it indeed improved Dravid's one day game as a batsman. Plus he backed Zaheer, Sehwag, Harbhajan, even Agarkar, Nehra & the great Anil Kumble were in the mix speaks volumes of Ganguly's leadership !
