Sources of Light. Learn all about sources of light. Definitions and examples of natural sources of light, artificial sources of light, luminous & non-luminous objects, incandescent and bioluminescent light sources, reflectors of light etc. For grades 7, 8 and 9.
Thanks to light we are able to see around us. We need an object which emits its own light to get light. These objects are called sources of light. Anything that gives off light of its own is said to be luminous. So, every source of light is a luminous object. Sources of light can be natural source of light or artificial sources of light. The sun is the main natural source of light on earth. Artificial light is light made by humans. You can learn all about natural light sources and artificial light sources and their examples in this video.
Emitting light as a result of being heated is called incandescent. This means, when an object is incandescent, it emits light because it is hot. Most of the light sources are incandescent. Bioluminescent objects are sources of light that emit light without getting hot. These can be both living and non living things. Reflectors of light cannot emit their own light. They just reflect light. Watch this video to know more about these with examples.
