Fantastic game. Revisiting Shadow Moses Island brought back so many MGS1 memories when I was a kid. Literally got teary eyed when I heard "The Best Is Yet To Come" and Snake said "Just like old times" with the overhead view. PHENOMENAL decision on Kojima's part to bring back audio from MGS1 for this one.

Two years later I decided to give it a second try .... and it turned out to be one of the best games I ever played. The game opens up and get very interesting once you get past the first mission or so. I ended up replaying it several times afterwards. It's nonstop suspense and showdown.

Just want to say again this was a cinematographic masterpiece, i never watch playthroughs but watching someone breeze through this was amazing. I feel like this does the series serious justice. There are literally some of the most intense moments ive ever seen, all the hours leading up to it. this is some serious payoff that no other medium could do. im just so amazed. This game alone is worth buying a ps3, but here i am all these years later and i havent been able to play it to completion. Im glad that i could take some time for the full story of metal gear to play out though, now theres tons of fans talking and doing full series analysis. Its an inspiration, if you know the personal story of Kojima people tried to talk him out of it in the beginning and now he is regarded as one of the most influential creators in the medium

jayvalle50 it was later revealed in the end from big boss @ 10:59:42 that the “body that was burned in the water was not mine. That was the body of my clone. Solidus ” That SAME body was thrown in the fire @ 6:34:14 was indeed Solidus. The remaining part of his body was used as a decoy to trick the AI into thinking that was Big Boss’s body, but that was Solidus body “ kept alive by nanomachines” and we know this earlier in the game @ 5:36:14 as Big Mama said the body was technically “ not brain dead” because it was kept alive by nanomachines. When they threw THAT body in the fire, that finally “ killed “ Solidus, or what was left of him. So technically, Solidus was actually defeated in MGS 2, but didn’t die until MGS 4 when his body was thrown in that fire.... so ... yep... that’s a bad way for Solidus to go out the way he did. But you are right by saying Big Boss dies. Solidus finally died by getting burned. Big Boss dies at the very end of this game . Big Boss began to feel the effects of the new FOXDIE virus, which he had knowingly contracted from Snake. While in pain, he requested that Snake take him over to The Boss's grave, and assured him that the old FOXDIE mutation wouldn't cause an epidemic as the new strain would supplant it. When he arrived at The Boss's grave, he reflected back on the day he killed The Boss, sorrowfully admitting that he was "already dead" ever since. He then reflected on The Boss's will, finally understanding it after all those years. He stood and saluted, echoing his salute 50 years beforehand. Sharing one final smoke, Big Boss finally made peace with his last living son, and, as a last request, pleaded with Snake to spend his final days in peace, not to waste them fighting. Moments later, Big Boss passed away at the grave of the woman whose life and death had made him into the person he was. This is good... Isn't it? BIG BOSS'S LAST WORDS.

My dad played this entire game series from the very beginning since 1987 and loved every minute of it. He passed away (June 5, 2008) a week before MGS4 was released (June 12, 2008), so he unfortunately didn't get to play the last one. The last one he played was MGS3: Snake Eater. I didn't get to play MGS4 until 9 years after its release. Going through all these emotional cutscenes and watching the flashbacks from previous games brought back a lot of memories of my dad. I used to watch him play MGS2: Sons of Liberty and Snake Eater when I was a child. It's been 16 long years since I last saw him, but the games he showed me growing up will always keep his memory alive, especially Metal Gear Solid. Love you, Dad.

I don't think there will ever be a game that comes close to what MGS4 achieved. The cutscenes honestly had more creative action sequences than even The Matrix. Not to mention the diverse areas and robust stealth gameplay. Raiden fighting Vamp blew my mind and I haven't seen anything as wild as that in any form of media.

"War transforms men into beasts" I thought about the road humanity will take before and it boils down to 2 sides: Love, Compassion and Understanding OR the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse. My mother told me one day" son, there is nothing worst than war", at that time i didn't pay much attention to it and returned to what i was doing at that time, then one day i understood ... Why the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse? war: destruction, loss, crippling injuries, PTSD, rape, child rape, ... famine: supply lines are cut out, food reserves become scarce to the point that people are starving to death pestilence: when war hits often supplies and pipes of clean water are destroyed. That leaves people with dirty water containing fecal and other bacteries resulting people catching cholera, disentery, etc .. death: the sum of all that is listed above, what is there else to tell ... LOVE or HATE. The HARD path and the EASY path. The RIGHT path and the WRONG path. If you hate people they'll hate you for it. If you love people they'll love you for it. Think about that.

Raging Raven is like The Fury. By the way my favorite Beast. She is beautiful but where you see The End or The Pain or The Fear here? These girls are actually female versions of villains from Metal Gear Solid 1. Raging Raven = Vulcan Raven but also she can be The Fury. Lightning Octopus = Octopus Decoy. Crying Wolf = Sniper Wolf. She never had her male version on the other hand but it's good. We had enough male villains already. Screaming Mantis = Psycho Mantis but I was dissappointed here. Psycho Mantis was much more powerful than her.

I truly love this game, som may call it confusing but to me it wraps everything up so good AND makes me an emotional wreck! xD Impressive playthrough, I watched every minute of it. I always thought the stealth-achievement to be the hardest one, you need such patience! almost 12 hours of good entertainment and I thank you for that (I always underestimate the lenght of the cinematics, I almost forgot that it was a game for a while there! Great playthrough. I really enjoyed all of your MGS videos. This was my first MGS game that got me hooked on the series. While this may be people's least favorite game, I liked that the player's choices can affect the battlefield. Blowing up the enemy vehicles in the first area will help the rebels gain control of the area for instance. For a linear game, there were tons of ways to complete the level. Though that's what Metal Gear has always been good at doing.

When you think about it; the story told in this game reflects the times we experience today and the times we may experience in the future. Where wars are nothing but tools for gaining for more control, money and power while keeping the general people unaware and focused on a relative enemy in order to perpetuate that control, money and power. Although with its plot holes and convoluted expositions, the Metal Gear series as a WHOLE is a beautifully written story which highlights certain facets about this existence that everyone should consider.

My favorite part of the game was everything in it. This gem is a masterpiece. You could approach this game so many ways and not necessarily could be wrong at all.
