Sous vide at 125 for 2-3 hours will be much better result. 45 minutes isn’t enough time to change texture of the steak. I also think that lesser cuts fair better in sous vide. Although a strip is a lesser cut compared to a ribeye!

I've never had sous vide. Other than perfect doneness, am I to expect something really different from a regular grill? If so, in which way would you say it's different? Thanks.

You only sous vide it for 45 minutes it would be juicer and more tender at 90 minutes. Steak is great either way!

For sure. I’ve seen too many sous vide comparisons like this. They cook it wrong in the sous vide then say it’s not as good….

Sous Vide is good for people with small apartments or don't have access to a grill. The biggest advantage it has, is being able to cook stuff for you unattended.

you needed to cook that steak in the sous vide bath for at least 2 hours. 4 hours would be optimum. you didn't cook it long enough!

I would say that you should sous vide the steak longer. Really give that fat time to render down since it is such a low temp, and also the meat will relax and become more tender. At least that's what I understand of sous vide, I could be wrong.

I love yall, but man this was not a good sous vide test. 135° for 2 hours and get 1.5" thick ribeyes. Guga has got it figured out over at Sous Vide Everything

I’m curious if it just needed more time in the Sous Vide. I have to say Sous Vide has peaked my interest I’m just not sure I’m ready to take the plunge...

Check out Sous Vide Everything I love these guys, but it wasn't a good method. As crazy as it sounds a ribeye at 135 for 2 hours is the sweet spot

Sous vider here and it definitely needed more time! But hey these are bbq guys so it’s okay they were unfamiliar with the sous vide. I still enjoyed watching the experiment 😀 Cheers!

Your test was not a valid one. You did not sous vide at the right temp or long enough. I think maybe you wanted the grill side to win.

Plain and simple Sous Vide is not BBQ. Go boil your meat for your 50hrs. Over coals is and always will be the way!

Plain and simple, grilling isn't BBQ either. BBQ is low and slow on indirect heat from a wood fire. If you're cooking over coals, that's direct heat. People who know how to BBQ don't conflate the term with grilling.

Biased Taste Test. No way you would allow sous vide to win on your grill channel, so you sous vide it for WAY less time than you should have.

You have to be an absolut Grill/BBQ snob to think that sous vide is not better let alone being worse. Why would it be worse...if anything it can only be same or better. 45min was not enough by the way.
