Samkele Maseko is not only erudite when it comes to the granula machinations of the SA politics, but his prose makes him enjoyable to listen to. Dr. Ongama Mtika is certainly analytical in his outlook. Thanks to the both of you for complementing each other well in exposing all aspects of this issue.

Hmm, except the ANC behave as if they have a majority. Their willingness to accept a democratic transfer of power has not yet been tested.

It's a brutal truth that the emergence of MKP obliterated all the significant parties with no exception. However, the ANC played a strategic role in averting the chaos that was inevitable by developing a coherent algorithm to form government. IFP,EFF and the ANC were all obliterated by the manifestation the MKP but ANC is making serious inroads in KZN right now.

In essence the dropping of the ANC in the May elections cannot be ascribed predominantly to the formation of the so-called MKP. It emanates from the staying away from voting by a big margin of registered voters mainly the youth and the middle class. This reduced voter turn-out has been a factor since 2019 and it continues.
