@shelleymiddlebrook1265 This really was beautiful. I’m not a religious man but this was definitely special. I kind of feel the same way, though not as intense, as when I watched a video some years back of a NZ couple at their wedding and the groomsmen all started a Haka to honour them. I don’t think I have ever been so moved by something as I was by that moment. I’m not ashamed to say that it moved me to tears. I didn’t understand the language and I’ve sadly never been to NZ (yet!) but it was so pure and so powerful that I completely felt the incredibly strong energy and understood the message. It was just amazing to me that something that upon first glance and being a total outsider can look so intimidating and threatening but yet convey such love and support and emotion. (I’ve watched many more Haka videos since then and know that Haka is many more things then just a challenge) As you can tell, it really struck something in me. I hope to one day visit NZ and perhaps witness it in person. Much love and respect to you, the Maori and all First Nations and Indigenous peoples around the world from 🇨🇦

I am not from a tribe of any kind I was raised in a cult, our music was very dull more of a dirge than anything else. I managed to get away from that and did some travelling. I happened to help a neighbour out at Waitangi Day celebrations. (She made huge batches of curried chicken and mussels with rice &would need help on the day). At one point in the afternoon they did musical and dance performances. I had seen a Haka so thought I knew what to expect, how naive I was. As soon as they started to sing I had this visceral reaction, I don't even know where it came from but, I sobbed big, ugly, tears for the whole performance. It was so very beautiful to me. My neighbour thought I was nuts. I'm sure you won't care, but I just wanted to say I had this similar experience with Music from your home. ❤️🖖🏼

In terms of dance....Well Africans all over the continent have that natural gift .

@@kehindeemiabata4032 I am African, so I know. I was lucky enough to grow up in East Africa and then live and work in South Africa for a good amount of time - so I can compare the two different societies. Music and song is a bigger part of South African society than any East African society; their protests, for example, are 90% song (and toyi-toying - look it up). The harmonisation you see, the singing in sync; it is much more part of a typical South African upbringing than any other African community elsewhere.

@@quickstep2408 I mention it because I wanted them to know their singing transcends race, age, and colour. That’s an important point. I’m sorry if it offended or triggered you for some reason. You are certainly the one to make an issue of it and lower the tone. Do better please.

As a Liberian, I’ve admire South Africans unique voice. From Sarafina to Mariam Makebah, their natural voice leaves you with goose bumps. A normal school devotion looking like a mass choir performing at a grand event.

I look at them, we are a part of them and they are a part of us (African Americans). So much love in their hearts just the way we use to know love among our friends and family here in USA. I get a message from this song. As they plead with the Father for protection and thank Him for protection, we need to do the same 100% here in America. Same blood line, same power all we have to do is raise our voices in the same child like faith and things will be better for us here in America. I am so inspired by that great union and fellowship that is with them. Love you South Africa. Love you Motherland❤❤❤.
