Kirsten 40 off 57 (very rapid) and then 3 off his next 49 balls. That sort of match

What an exciting Test Match - especially the finish! That wicket which was allowed to stand when Gillespie had clearly bowled a no ball might have been crucial. Had the Umpires spotted it, South Africa might have scored another 20 runs which could have made all the difference in such a tight contest. Still, it was a great comeback by Australia, who having shipped South Africa a lead of a 101 runs in the first innings looked dead and buried when the Saffa’s were 78-0, leading by a 179 runs at one stage in their second knock. It’s definitely one that they shouldn’t have let slip and it would have hurt them to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. On a final note, that South African crowd were amazing with their colourful, fantastic vocal support and the dancing as well. Great atmosphere!

Mind you, Gillespie got Bacher out down the leg side in the first innings, yet it wasn't given by the umpire. It clearly brushed the glove. So it's all swings and roundabouts I would say.

I had never seen Ian healey playing well. However, despite this, he was the regular test member of great australian team till his retirement in 1999.

Aus 108 off 70 overs in the first innings. That must have been a scintillating day’s play. Commentators very poor in spotting when players were caught behind because the ball seamed - eg Taylor and Waugh in first innings. Keith Stackpole also saying lbw decisions were plumb when hit outside the line or going over the stumps? Was sorry to discover that Pollock was off the field in the second innings - takes a tiny bit of gloss off what was on of Aus’s best wins, but still great from M Waugh. Both teams indulging in the ongoing idiocy of yelling “catch!”. The lowest intelligence thing in sports.
