Jono, do you have a P.O. box or address that we could send stuff to you? I have some current Texas maps and travel guides I think y'all would like to look at to maybe plan ahead of y'alls visit to our great state. If y'all are going to be here for three months, you can definately go to many of the places on the video. Dallas and Ft. Worth are only 30 minutes from each other, same for Houston and Galveston. San Antonio is about an hour away from Austin which is in the Hill Country. Don't bother going to El Paso, it's too far with not much to see or do. I live in the D/FW area and would be able to do a meet up and take you to a lot of things you have said you want to do. Bass Pro Shop, Buc-ee's, Walmarts, BBQ restaurants, hunting, fishing, etc. are all within of hour of me and I'm 55 and retired, so I have plenty of time to kill. Lol

I moved to a suburb of Huston from the state of Washington about a year ago with my daughters family. One thing you need to keep in mind, and I know you have heard and seen this in the videos you have seen. Texas is huge and if you were to rent an RV or camper to vist different places in Texas you would be driving a lot. I would recommend you check out Google Maps to determine distances between places you wish to visit in Texas. You might want to check for RV parks where you can rent a parking spot with hookups for your rental. I don't want to discourage you from seeing sites you wish to visit, and I don't want you to be disappointed with your visit to the US. Let me just say that three months might give you enough time to spend a day or two maybe even three at the places you would like to visit. Most of your time will be spent driving to the different locations. I can't emphasize enough the word "BIG". You will need to plan your RV trips so you will be able to spend some time at the different locations and enjoy the experience rather than spending hours or days driving to different locations. Wishing you and your family the best and I hope a wonderful experience and vist to the USA.

San Antonio, my home town, is also very nice and just down the road (about and hour and a half away). On the way from Austin to San Antonio, you can stop at the most famous Buck-ees gas station in the US. Not, like, it’s famous because it’s Buck-ees, but it’s actually the most famous location of them all! It’s really no different from the others, maybe a bit bigger, but it’s great so be sure to stop for some nuggets.

It gets hot in Texas during our summer, June, July, and August. I highly suggest visiting Texas in October through May if you do not wish to melt outside. The stockyards Coliseum in Ft. Worth has a rodeo almost every weekend and the home of Billy Bob, a huge honky tonk. NASA’s home in Houston is a must see if you are interested in space. The Riverwalk in San Antonio is a must see, especially during the Christmas season with additional lights. Best to visit Dallas during the three week State Fair in late September and early October. South Padre Island is a favorite spring break location for college kids. Bluebonnets exist everywhere in Texas during April and May, just not the hill country. Austin is okay, but the only tourist attraction is the State Capital, full of politicians and lawyers, very dull. But it does host a F1 race, if you are into racing. I agree renting a motor home is a great way to tour Texas. There are Recreation Vehicle (RV) parks in almost every county, near State and National Parks. With a limit of three months, unless seeing wild Blueberries is high on your wish list, late September, October, November, and early December would be my choice months (12 weeks). Start in DFW and then drive southward as winter approaches to avoid the cold.

That "old building" was the state capitol building, built in 1888 and paid for by the state selling some investors from Britain in exchange for 3 million acres of ranch land in the Texas Panhandle. It is taller than the US Capitol building. It is so pretty from all sides and when we outgrew the building, they went underground blasting limestone down 4 stories, and the lowest 2 stories is a car garage. As for oceans, I never lived anywhere near the ocean, and in my opinion everything in there either stings or bites. I tell people that when my ancient ancestors crawled out of the ocean, we kept going until we were as far from the ocean as we could get.

Just watching this. As a born and raised Texan, from San Antonio, I’m proud to see it make the top of the list. I have been to all of the major cities in Texas, and San Antonio definitely has the most unique and cleanest downtowns of them all. Second for me would probably be Dallas. Houston is nice too, but is the most humid and hot part of Texas in the Summer. They do have a really nice aquarium though, and not far from the Kennedy Space Center. Don’t know if you have made this trip yet, but staying in the New Braunfels area would put you within a very easy drive of San Antonio, Austin, and the Hill Country. That way, you could cross all three off the list. There are several great State Parks in that region too. March and April are the best times to come for weather and wildflowers. You could also do the San Antonio rodeo in April, which is huge! Also, ignore my channel name. I let my 9 year old daughter highjack it so she can post videos and try to become a KZbinr 😂

Three months is a good visit. Choose your time of year. March through May would be very good. You could start your tour in the southern parts of the state where the weather is warmer and then move North. It doesn't get very hot until June, but you can find very warm conditions even in Spring in places like Houston, Corpus Christi and Galveston. Also suggest you take a look at the Texas State Parks system. We have some awesome natural features you would enjoy. Big Bend is a National Park and there are several ways to enjoy the Rio Grande River in and near the park. The Hill Country as the video states is home to all kinds of outdoor activities. People love to tube down the rivers and visit some of the historic old towns. The cities as you point out are generally clean, but they are still big cities with all the pros and cons that go with that. San Antonio is unique with some of the country's oldest structures in the old Spanish Missions, one of which you have heard of, The Alamo. The Gulf Coast is long and the water quality improves as you go South. South Padre Island and National Seashore are beautiful. The water around Galveston is generally brown from the sediment of the rivers emptying into the Gulf of Mexico. And don't forget about the multitude of culinary experiences.

If you fly into Austin, you're right around a lot of the great BBQ spots. Remember that everything in Texas is so spread out, so you definitely have to pick your trip well in terms of where you go. I used to travel around the state for work and drove everywhere while I was in my 20s and early 30s and could have the patience for longer trips that I've made before. It was nice to see and great to see all of the regions as they transition (East Texas/Piney Woods compared to West and the Valley and the Coast and even the Panhandle not to mention the I-35 corridor and all in between). Fort Worth is great and you can string together a Dallas/Ft. Worth straight shot from Austin and the surrounding areas to see some of the bigger cities. Not a huge Houston fan in terms of coming to visit from overseas - struggles even worse than Dallas does with a lack of any specific identity that you really feel.

The vid was a bit “city-centric”. With the exception of El Paso and Palo Duro (possibly Big Bend) everything else is an easy days drive. Corpus Christi with adjoining Arkansas Pass is less than 150 miles from Austin for your “ Sea fix”. Lol Unfortunately, at the present time, anything along the Mexican Border (or lack thereof) is too dangerous to visit. The Hill Country is a HUGE area to the west of Austin, with lots of open spaces…”Urban sprawl” is a problem close to any large city, but there are many super nice State Highways throughout. If you haven't seen a million bats fly out from under a bridge you're missing out. Inner Space Caverns is an amazing natural cave system that shouldn't be missed. For fishing, Lake Fork in East Texas or Lake Ray Roberts in North Texas. It's best to hire a guide. For nature, Davie Crockett National Forest. Stop and read the historical markers. There's some very brutal history in that area. The River Walk is very nice at sundown and the boat tour guides were very funny. Just a few suggestions. I know yall will have a great time.

If you’re flying in through Austin, I’d catch the bats. It’s pretty cool watching 2 millions bags flying out from under a bridge. But for the kids, I think you’d be better off driving down to San Marcos and go tubing down the river, then go to New Braunfels and stop at Bucees and Schlitterbahn before making your way to San Antonio. Then jump on I10 for 4 hours and check out Houston and Galveston. Then take another short 5 hour drive to Fort Worth. Then you’re just a hop, skip, and a jump away from Austin for your return flight.

Well Texas is pretty warm most of the year. Big cities come with big traffic too. As for how big Texas is it's about the size of 3 United Kingdoms. A drive from Houston in the south to Amarillo in the north is around 9 hours. I hope you will have a great trip and that it's memorable. I'll be looking forward to vlogs.

Austin is far from the worst part of Texas. I would explain it as this... Austin is the capital, which up until about 10 years ago was a small town between San Antonio and Dallas. Now its growing VERY fast. It is also very liberal. For someone coming to Texas for the first time you should be aware that Austin is quite different than anywhere else in Texas. But the food and music scene are world class in Austin!

What does it matter if it’s liberal? Liberal towns tend to have a better music, art and sports scene than conservative ones.

I grew up in Houston, But have lived in Austin Texas for the past 30 years. I highly recommend the Hill Country... Austin, Fredericksburg, And New Braunfels, And any place west and southwest of Austin will be some pretty land,. Austin has some good Bar-B-Q restaurants. New Braunfels and Fredericksburg have good Sausage and Beer ( They were originally German settlements.) San Antonio for the Alamo, the River walk, And Puffy Tacos. Houston and Galveston for NASA's space center, And Galveston for the Beach, And some Good Gulf coast Seafood. I highly recommend "Gaidos"Seafood restaurant. the Gulf coast fried shrimp is always my favorite. The drive to Big Bend is very long, But worth it. Good luck on your trip. I know you will enjoy all of Texas. Just remember, It gets very hot in Texas. Especially in the summer. Just this summer we have had over 3 months of 100*f temperatures. Many of those days were over 105*f, And a few were over 110*f.

Definately San Antonio. By far. Was stationed there for many years. The Positives= Of course the river walk, safe with police patrols and police boats on river. Food is out of this world. (Go to Dicks restaurant). Take a short drive to South Padre Island for awesome beaches. Over all a safe, clean city that is friendly easy to walk around or bike. As a natural born Texican, this is the first place to visit.

San Antonio and the River Walk is a must see. As a side trip try Gruene Hall, the oldest continuously operating dance hall in Texas. It is located in New Braunfels, Texas, northeast of San Antonio on Interstate 35. Great bands, music, and dacing, even if you just watch. When in Texas you have to try "Shiner Boch," my favorite beer. I discovered the brand while visiting the dance hall 20 or so years ago. We were visitig friends who live in the San Antonio area and they took us there. I have a several bottles of Shiner Boch in the refrigerator as I write this. I am enthused by your enthusiasm! Because of weird and violent people that have swamped the city, the Antifa and BLM political violence, most Texans are not going to soon forget innocent people dragged from their cars by political radicals most of whom are not even from Texas. That was a very basic overview of what to do in Texas. As far as the outdoors go the Hill Country and South Padre Island are on the top of my list. Big Bend is beautiful but it's a looooong haul from anywhere. From Houston to Big Bend is a good 7 hour drive. The Alamo is really cool especially if you know the history behind it,I'm sure you've heard the phrase "Remember the Alamo" that refers to when the mexican army and Santa Anna the mexican general attacked the Alamo and slaughtered everyone there. Remember the Alamo was the war cry when the Texans beat Santa Anna in the battle of San Jacinto in 1836. The Texans were lead by Sam Houston which of course is where Houston got its name. The statue you saw of the guy on a horse is Sam Houston.

Fort Worth is my hometown. Go to the North side and visit the Stockyards if you want to see the Longhorn roundup. Go to Billy Bob's for some rodeo action and live music. You MUST go to Joe T. Garcia's for fajitas. (Bring cash; they don't accept credit cards.) The Kimball Art music is amazing. The Fort Worth Zoo is nationally ranked as one of the best zoos in the nation. The Japanese Gardens are gorgeous and so tranquil. If you go downtown be sure to visit the Water Gardens. They filmed part of the movie Logan's Run here. East of Fort Worth is Arlington, home to Six Flags Over Texas theme park and the Texas Rangers baseball team.

I lived in Austin for 3 years. I DON'T recommend you spend more than a day or 2 there, tops. It's a college town, which years ago was ok, but it has gotten progressively worse in the past decade. Since you're flying into Austin, and I know you want to try some of the best BBQ, go on-line and look up Franklin's Barbeque in Austin Tx. You can pre-order and have it ready for you to pick up when you're in town, otherwise, you'd have to get in line at around 5 or 6 AM and wait for them to open around 11. If you don't they will be sold out by the time you get in the doors. Plus, they also only have certain items on certain days, like their beef ribs, so you can check on-line to see what days they are available, cause believe me you don't want to miss out on that. I wouldn't bother with Fort Worth, it's ok, but you'll be bored after a few hours. San Antonio is where I would recommend you go. Stop in New Braunfels on the way and go to Shlitterbahn, a huge waterpark, your kids will love it. Also, the Buckees in New Braunfels is the largest one in the state, I think they're building one bigger now, but it's massive, so, you can kill 2 birds with one stone. Just some advice from an ex-texan, no matter what you decide to do, be safe and have a great time.

Then I'll take you fresh water fishing for bass and catfish in the many rivers....or we'll canoe down Blackwater river for a day or weekend trip with fishing and camping. Or backpack some beautiful country on part of the Florida Trail that goes the entire width and down the state. Or we'll BBQ for a day of food and fun. We encountered a mountain lion while camping in Big Bend. Northern Texas does get snow in winter. We, farther south, don't get it very often. I know people who have never seen snow. That is Big Tex...icon of the Texas State Fair. That 'old building' is the capitol building. No matter what city you visit, you are going to have traffic. The one thing you have to remember about Texas. It is not the number of miles from one place to another...it's how many hours it takes you to drive there. Distance is relative here. The Riverwalk is a great place to visit.

My uncle just retired from being the head fire marshall of the state capital building and governors mansion in Austin. I always loved visiting him at work. The capital building is a must see, especially inside where you can look up to the dome from the bottom floor! The Texas state capital building is larger than the US capital in Washington DC. Also if you can get to Houston, there's the downtown tunnels that are air conditioned and run under the buldings downtown and has stores to shop at and places to get food, all the museums, NASA, bayous, hermann park, and much more.

Happy birthday, Jono!🎂 I was Lea ! I got my first horse at 15 after pleading with Mum and Dad for 8 years. 50 years later I now have 9 horses and 3 foals. In my life I have had 17 mares and about 23 foals. I tell you now that horses are like potato chips, you can never have just one. When in Texas be careful swimming in rivers, lakes and ponds as alligators sometimes are found in them especially in southeast Texas from Houston to the Big Thicket area. I have encountered many while on the Trinity River. They usually are as afraid of you as you are them except there is always the exception to the rule. San Antonio is beautiful. The River Walk is very trelaxing. Their zoo is wonderful. And, the Alamo is so... inspiring. I know you will love it but please don't visit during the height of summer.
