Ukraine is using HIMARS extremely well. They drone-spot a stationary Russian MLRS unit, determine its GPS coordinates, and send in a HIMARS. And it hits every time. They didn't cover this in the video, but HIMARS comes with choice of warhead. One is like a regular high explosive payload, and one is a bazillion tungsten balls. The density and hardness of the tungsten, combined with the ridiculous velocity, pokes holes through everything. When the balls hit Russuam=n weapons they make Swiss cheese, and the munitions cook off as a bonus. Humans in HIMARS range? Well, let's just say bring shovels and buckets.

11:45 Those fragments are 182,000 tungsten ball bearings. "M30A1 rockets with Alternative Warhead (AW). Range: 15-92 km (9.3-57.2 mi). GMLRS rocket that replaces the M30's submunitions with approximately 182,000 pre-formed tungsten fragments for area effects without unexploded ordnance. Entered production in 2015. This warhead is superior not just because it does not use cluster munitions but is also superior to a normal high explosive round: "A high explosive round is very impressive because it produces a big bomb and large pieces of shrapnel, but this round is small pellets and covers a much larger area." The M30A1 uses a proximity sensor fuze mode with a 10 meter height of burst." Poland is currently taking delivery of their HIMARS, they're acquiring a bunch of them. A list of countries who are in the process of purchasing, or in the process of planning to purchase HIMARS includes; Australia, Estonia, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Morocco, and Taiwan. There is no evidence that russia has successfully taken out a M142 HIMARS. Ukraine is currently operating 39 M142s.

One thing they forgot to mention, when they are armed with the big long range rocket the "magazine" looks the same on the outside as the one with 6 rockets. This makes it so the enemy can't tell if you are armed with six shorter ranged rockets or one long range rocket carrying a larger warhead. 😋

the things that scares me and makes me so glad its on my side is the BEA systems (hats off to the UK for making this monster) M-777 (range of 30 miles, a fire rate of 5 shells a min, and each shell is basically a cheaper equivalent of a hellfire missile) and the new M1299 self-propelled howitzer system (rumored 100-110 mile range firing similar if not exactly the same rounds as the other system). The thing that gets to me about these systems is how accurately they can get that volume of fire. When you have artillery boasting a 5 round variable angle attack with an accuracy of 5 meters and in the course of near non-stop use and firing over 35k rounds in one year only needing to swap the barrels twice is just down right insane.

It has safety measures f it has to fire the whole 6 in the pod . If it fired all six without it yes it would cause a problem. The computer can tell when the rocking of the launcher is low enough to fire the next and won't till it is safe. You just hit the command to fire the 6 and the launcher takes care of the safe execution.

The game changing thing about the himars and f35 data link is how much more streamlined the kill chain will be for nato partners inter operating for combined arms warfare. Building an ecosystem for war you can air drop targeting data from a stealth plane email and a warhead from a rocket tractor battlefield management software is really shaping up to be the thing that redefines war again.

As far as I understand the most common way that these systems are used in Ukraine is counter artillery. Russia launches an artillery strike at some Target and the sound of the artillery shell with a bunch of other intelligence to figure out exactly where it is and then the Himar deploys and launches a rocket at that position. It's such a quick response that the people that fired the artillery can't pack up and move before the missile arrives but because the Himar system is so mobile the counter counter fire from Russia hits an empty field because the vehicle is already 5 MI away. It's been the most effective piece of equipment at stopping Russian Artillery. So with it in play one of the most dangerous things you can do is Russian Artillery is fire your weapon and you can't really respond to their system because it already has moved on
@kokomo9764
@kokomo9764 Жыл бұрын
That is not true. They can be used for counter battery fire, but the most common use is for offensive attacks. There are much cheaper means for counter battery fire.

@bzkshane

@@betathoughtexperimentyou’re generally right as they do use it for counter battery. BUT the biggest thing they use it for is when they pull offensives to retake towns, trenches, etc since it’s incredibly effective in that aspect as well. It’s a multi-role piece for sure, but that’s mainly 80% of its use there as far as I’m aware

5:25 It's not weird to think about. Americans discuss this all the time. For example ... the 2024 defense (war) budget was increased $20 billion to $887 billion. $20 billion could end homelessness in the US. (Homelessness just reached an all-time high.). There are many videos on this topic to react to.

If we don’t have the best military the homeless you speak of would be countryless too. We have to have a mighty military for many countries around the Globe or else China and Russia would divide up that side of the Earth with unstoppable armies. Sooner or later there would be only two countries in the world and you would be speaking a new language. USA World Protector for Peace.

"...deployed in theaters worldwide." Well, then, Tom Cruise better watch his step. Seriously, this is designed to be the epitome of "shoot and scoot" so the crew remains in the truck. Finally, if Ukraine were to get the missiles with range >300 miles, a launcher in Ukraine could target assets in Moscow. That's why there's considerable back-and-forth over which ammo is supplied to Ukraine.
