Pakistan has the bigger portion of Punjab than India so Punjabi is a regional language, not an Indian one. Just like Bengali is not only spoken in India but primarily in Bangladesh.

Indian Punjab school children read, write and speak in Punjabi language only. No Pakistani government has ever prompted Punjabi in any way. Some Ashraf(high caste) Muslims even call it lower caste language and don't motivate their children to speak in Punjabi in public settings. Punjabi is not even the recognised language in Pakistan's constitution. So why won't we Indians call it an Indian language?

This song is in Punjabi, it represents Pakistani Punjabi culture. A neighbourhood, a house, where everyone's preparing for a wedding. The Magical Journeys for these songs are amazing, they're like mini documentaries and provide all the back story on all the songs. You must react to all the songs that have come out so far. Season 15 is ongoing, a new song is dropped every sunday. Each song represents a unique cultural aspect of Pakistan and is a masterpiece. The Sabri Sisters are part of the famous Sabri family.

Your comment is very informative but their is this one factual inaccuracy that I want to correct is that Sabri Sisters are not related to the actual Sabri Musical Family/Amjad Sabri's Family (late) in no shape or form. They just use this name as their artist name and there is nothing more to it.

Loved your reaction: it was so genuine especially when you replayed the whole song and then proceeded to say exactly what you liked. The music you were trying to remember is Bhangra i think. we just call it the punjabi beats when we forget what to call this whole type of music with the punjabi instruments, Such houses are actually a depiction of farmhouses or havelis the typical havelis that people have or had in villages in Pakistan particularly in Punjab with a central courtyard. Call it old style houses. And yes this is a wedding song. Punjabi culture is quite dominant in Pakistan as Punjab is an actual province in Pakistan, and Lahore is the capital of Punjab with historical and political importance so one can understand why Punjabi is pretty huge as a culture in Pakistan. When I first shifted to Pakistan from Africa I did not understand a thing about anything but as i grew older here i grew to love the language. Fun fact: another reason why Punjabi literature and songs are so much in abundance is that it is one of the oldest literary languages. That is why even the sufi kalam are predominantly in Punjabi language as they were pioneered by Sufi poets in Punjab..

Nice reaction. Nice catch on Sabri Brothers. These girls are related to them. Their grandad was I believe a third brother of the Sabri Brothers ( Ghulam Farid Sabri and Maqbool Ahmad Sabri). Btw. Maqbool Ahmad Sabri lived in South Africa in his later years and died there. I believe his second wife was from South Africa.

The Pakistan Punjab portion is 3 times bigger than the india side. Indias side is called charda punjab and Pakistan sode is called lehnda punjab. Also Pakistan aode punjab is very holy for sikh people as sikhism was founded in Pakistan side of punjab. Guru nanak was born there and their holiest sight is there. People go from india everyday to visit kartarpur sahib
