Pakistan private sector is not competitive. I agree Pakistan decline is across the board since at least 1992. I agree

15:15 Prof. Mian says, "What are those deeper issues? Those are more institutional. I have some theories on that. Sometime they don’t go very well in the public audience." If an esteem academic with no political agenda cannot honestly speak about economic / public policy issues in public (because it offends some powerful interest groups - military/ISI? taliban?), how can you expect the political class to address them.

If these policies are not going to work then what is the way forward? You mentioned exports but how we can increase exports? How we can be competitive?

Average Pakistani is not less smart compared to average Indian. But there is difference which I have observed while studying in Germany. Indians get better grades compared to Pakistanis. The reason is they have better universities than in Pakistan. Our standards are low

The problem is our priorities are different. There are academic lectures on youtube from Indian universities (example nptl) in different fields specially Engineering. How many are from Pakistan?? .... The number is very low(sadly) .

♦ Is there any reason the camera does not pan towards the screen with his slides on it? ♦ While I realise this was not a deep analysis, I think it is a little fanciful for him to be using the results of the cricket team as a proxy for the decline of institutions, LOL. Is he even sure the trend is correct? Pakistan may have declined in cricket, but might it have _gained_ in position in football [soccer]? I believe Pakistan's decline in hockey has to do with the convergent decline of hockey results by India [if you think why, the reason becomes obvious. India had a good hockey team → Pakistan had to "retaliate"]. Also, hockey was simply not as competitive internationally when India & Pakistan were the champs.
