Zion National Park is one of the most popular destinations in the American Southwest. Snagging a spot at one of the campgrounds in the park can be a challenge, but with luck, you too can enjoy this majestic & tranquil place.

Welcome back! In today's video, we show you what it is like camping at the South Campground in Zion National Park.
South Campground in Zion National Park is conveniently located by the South Entrance within walking distance of the Visitor Center as well as other amenities in the nearby town of Springdale, Utah.
We give you a tour of the campground, showing our campsite as well as other sites. We pay a visit to Zion Outfitter, Happy Camper Market, and Zion Canyon Brew Pub.
This video should help you plan a camping (or glamping!) trip to Zion National Park.
In order to experience all that Zion National Park has to offer, we recommend staying overnight for at least a couple days and camping is an affordable and fun way to make that happen.

My fiance and I are planning our honeymoon and are going to Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon. It has been difficult trying to get information from their websites, but your videos are so helpful! They include information that is important but often missed on government websites. They also are helpful for creating a packing list. Seeing the campsites and the surrounding area has been so helpful! Thank you for taking the time to film and edit the videos. I know it's time-consuming, but they are appreciated!!!

Thank you so so much! That is incredible to hear and really means a lot. 😃 It's funny you mentioned those things. We were planning trips and trying to find information about campsites and other similar things and were coming up empty handed. So that's one of the reasons we started going out and filming. Knowing we're helping others makes it all worth it! Enjoy your trip and honeymoon... and congratulations! 🎉

Been to Zion 4 times. Last time october 2019. I have always stayed at zion river resort. An rv park that has an area for tent campers. Five star rated with store and great shower facalities. I have hike the narrows four times. Made it up to big springs twice. There is a deep spot along the way that can be challenging to get past. Best hike is observstion point. Un fortunately there was a rock slide on the way up that has shut down that hike. Also the west rim trail past angel's landing all the way up and around to telegraph canyon trail the back is an epic hike. Top five hike of my life. Also a hike from lava point on down to telegraph canyon and back is also awesome as well. Have not done the subway hike. Someday maybe.

awesome job very well done. looking forward for a trip there soon. We are coming from Hawaii what months would be good to travel and how long should we stay to make the best of it? Just my husband and I and my husband has Alzheimer. But would like to stay at a hotel or motel any ideas of a great place to spend a few night. We have a service dog that we may or may not bring along due to her age and climate.

We visited Zion last September for 3 nights and the weather was pretty nice. Whether or not that is enough time is probably a bit subjective and depends on the person and what activities they are wanting to do. We loved the area and would have enjoyed more time to hike more trails personally. Unfortunately, this was our first trip to Zion and we camped inside the park so we don't have a lot of experience with hotels in the area. There is a nearby town of Springdale, however, that has a number of hotels that visitors often stay in. From a quick Google search I see a number of them are pet friendly should you choose to bring along your dog. Sorry I couldn't be more help!

Your videos are a lifesaver. I’m about to take a trip out here and this helps me do my research. Question about the $35 vehicle entry fee. As they are valid for 7 days, are we able to use them at different parks or do we have to pay $35 at each park?
@CactusAtlas
@CactusAtlas Жыл бұрын
If you are planning on visiting more than 2 national parks, it is best to buy the American the Beautiful National park pass, otherwise, yes, you will be paying separate entrance fees to different parks.

Hello! Please advise (I am watching videos but people’s input helps)! I’m going to possibly fly into Las Vegas and go to N. Rim GC, then back to Las Vegas, then I want to drive to Zion and spend a full day OR even stay the night. I’m unfamiliar with Zion so if I’m coming from Vegas where do I want to go to see the most beautiful parts of Zion? Which campground should I choose? We will want to hike some, maybe angels landing.

This is so Gorgeous. That is the Parus trail next to your camp site! How difficult was it to book a campsite? Did you have to do this 8 mos in advance?
@CactusAtlas
@CactusAtlas 2 жыл бұрын
Oh gosh. It's been almost two years since this trip but if I recall right the site was booked only a couple weeks in advance. The sites do book quickly but if one keeps an eye on recreation.gov often enough you can sometimes find sites open up, likely because of cancellations, which is what we think happened with this particular one.

I really want to see the GC N & S rims. I’d like to go to Zion. I’m up for tent camping but would want a hotel for a cpl nights. Don’t mind doing a lot of driving but I’m trying to plan for late March (my 1st vacation of the year 10 days) but I can’t make any camping reservations yet. I’m trying to plan but I have to look at weather and where I can actually get camping spots. Any advice would help. We can definitely make it up as we go but angels landing and the narrows are points of interest.

Unfortunately the trip we made that resulted in this video and our video on the Narrows was the only trip to Zion we made. We only reserved a campsite at South Campground and enjoyed it but can't really speak to Watchman campground or hotels in the area. Unfortunately the North Rim of the Grand Canyon is currently closed for the winter season. They will open back up in May. www.nps.gov/grca/planyourvisit/north-rim.htm
@tonygareth221
@tonygareth221 3 жыл бұрын
@@CactusAtlas Wow, I didn’t know that about n rim. Well, late March is when I’ll be there and I was thinking a day trip from Vegas to Zion, or maybe camping one night . Checking out all your videos but I’m new to this so I’m learning as I go 😆 id be ok with just exploring Zion for a day but I think we need to camp one night and spend two days! 🤷🏼‍♂️
@CactusAtlas
@CactusAtlas 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah... the North Rim is higher in elevation so they sometimes still have snow as late as May. It's also a lot more remote and less visited because of it. There's really not any towns that close. Learning as we go is pretty much what we do too. 😅 As for camping, just keep an eye on recreation.gov and hopefully you'll be able to snag a site for either South or Watchman campgrounds. Best of luck!

Not sure of the loops or how to describe them. The park has a map of the campground showing the site numbers and would probably better illustrate than I could explain. 😅 As for bug spray, there were never any when Glenn went but it probably doesn't hurt to have on hand just in case conditions are different.

What camp size do you recommend if I want to camp and sleep on my van. Thank you very much.
@CactusAtlas
@CactusAtlas 3 жыл бұрын
Based on what I remember, most sites at South Campground are capable of accommodating RVs or trailers so I imagine a van should be just fine. There are details about each campsite and whether they are tent only or have space for a larger vehicle when reserving a campsite -- www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/272266/campsites?&start=0. Hopefully that may help a little. Seems most can fit an RV up to 40 ft.
