Caitlin folded in the last five minutes. SC's defense wore her down and took away her confidence with their relentlessness and fearlessness, they harassed her to the point she lost her energy and became frustrated. They were not in awe of her despite all the hype. Dawn Staly's coaching was excellent. She slowed the game down, changed the pace, which took Iowa out of their offensive rhythm, and she put in her bench players, making her bench the starters and her starters the bench (with a strong emphasis on defense) and it worked. They were clamping close the passing lanes, especially in the 3rd and 4th quarters where they separated themselves from Iowa on the scoreboard. Masterful coaching. So media, start talking about the undefeated winners, ok? That's the real story, thank you.

How long you been living in America? The system usually cheats in interracial competition - be it job hiring, the justice/court system, sports, or any other segment of American society. That's why it's always been said you have to be TWICE as good as your white counterpart. When you play an opponent like Iowa, you have to beat them decidedly so that you remove the refs as a factor. Actually there’s no difference between the starters and benches in South Carolina Gamecocks. Rather in some games bench players played better than the starters. I guess that is how Dawn Staley really did her better job and that is how she made her team undefeated. Congratulations Gamecocks. Very sad for the last game of Caitlin Clark and Hawkeyes senior players. It was tremendous season for them to achieve this of back to back championships games.

@@bullydakidd2023 Paige Bueckers lost them the game, not the refs. She made 3 critical mistakes: 1) Missed the open 3 with 1 minute left. 2) Did not move well to receive the ball so Edwards had to close the gap step and made the illegal screen. 3) Choose to box out Caitlin Clark after her shooting the free trow instead of fighting with Stuelke and Affolter for the rebound with 3.9 seconds left. And she turned her back on Clark, so she threw the ball on her to waste clock.

The ONLY REASON South Carolina is a powerhouse is because they play as a TEAM and doesn't place ALL their eggs in "one" overrated pressure prone basket.

that’s not the only reason but yes that is a reason.

Nobody noticed that Tessa Johnson wasn't a bench player--she was throughout the season a fourth quarter starter. She played as many 4th quarter minutes as any Gamecock. She experienced the strategies, defenses, emotions and the competitiveness of winning time. No Gamecock was more ready for the moment. Dawn's coaching was far ahead of the competition. Her freshman was experienced and confident in those last ten minutes. A remarkable performance by coach and player! Tessa was trained for end games. It showed!
