So I'm going to disagree with some of you commentary on Cardoso and Coach Staley. On a deep team that lost a single game and routinely won by double digits, Cardoso wasn't under used this season. Also if we look at Kamilla's play in the 2021 Americup for comparison, we see just how much she's developed in the two years she's spent with Coach Staley at South Carolina.

I believe this will be the best team under dawn staley, because this is the best shooting team she will have. Tehina,milaysia,tessa are all players that will light it up from deep. Teams will not be able to sag off them. Then i expect raven and bree to improve their shots. Chloe will get more minutes and hit shots. The achilles heal for sc has been lack of perimeter shooters. Dawn would have more than 2 titles if she adressed this sooner. To go along will being one of the best defensive and athletic teams each season. Don't be susprise if this team runs the table, barring injuries

It is always fun to listen to these forecasts after the season starts. Now the opening games have been played. South Carolina beat Notre Dame 100 to 71 and a few days later beat Maryland 114 to 76. LSU lost their opener. So much for LSU's fast start and SC's slow start. SC is a faster, more explosive, and better outside shooting squad than last year, and they have a deep bench.

Knowledgeable fans know South Carolina isn't going anywhere, but South Carolina won't have as much of a talent gap over other teams as during the Boston, Cooke, Beal, Amihere days. The talent is there definitely. They're not going anywhere, but LSU is very excited to play South Carolina in the PMAC instead of Colonial Life. The size of South Carolina is very tantalizing. Cardoso is dominant and formidable. Time will tell. I never wrote them off because Dawn Staley has been recruiting her ass off and it will show. Kim Mulkey isn't intimidated by tall teams though because she has coached tall teams at Baylor and Mulkey will have more talent and height to work with next season. So anyone thinking LSU was lucky last year, LSU won't have to hit a bunch of 3s to win the title...even with Cardoso in there... Angel Reese and Aneesah Morrow both average a double double last season. LSU is going to be a better rebounding team than last season. South Carolina has height, but Iowa wasn't too intimidated with that height. Iowa scored layups and 3s...even with Cardoso on the court. People keep saying Angel Reese vs. Cardoso... no, Kim Mulkey is going to throw big Del Rosario on Cardoso... Del Rosario doesn't have to win the matchup, but she has size inside where Cardoso won't be the only 6-6 girl in there. LSU will be a better offensive team than last season. And Mulkey is a defensive coach so that let's you know... it going to be a battle in the SEC, but South Carolina is a top 3 team in my book... right off the bat. Pao Pao will help on the perimeter and Fulwiley is very talented. Then you have Brea Hall who is good plus Raven Johnson who should've been allowed to play the WHOLE Iowa game and given freedom because Fletcher opened the game with an air ball and wasn't ready at all...

She looks fabulous against one person Angel Reese who needs to play on the wing not in the post. Coach Staley & Molly have a track record of successful player development and I would expect the same for Raven & Feagin who were top five recruits in 2021 who have steadily improved. We just saw how Kitts got stronger in just 7 months of training in the Fiba games why wouldn’t the other two. Why no mention of 6’ 5 “ Walker and her impact with 3 yrs of college experience ? I think starting lineup will be Raven, Te-Hina, Hall, Feagin and Cardosa . Feagin is more versatile offensively in the high post and athletically can hold her own on defense along side Cardosa.

Geno is the only other general level strategist but he can't keep his team healthy he needs a new trainer staff. They don't have those girls bodies ready for their style of play.

You had me until you went and said something dumb like SC struggles with California teams meanwhile SC has beaten Stanford the last two times they’ve played and UCLA the last 6 times they played. You make a whole video and give no credit whatsoever to SANIA FEAGIN who will start and be an dominant presence. We’ll see if your claim about ND is right they play them in November and SC will be prepared for LSU way too much size for them and SC has consistently been one of the best defensive teams in the country I expect Dawn to have them prepared there. Raven will be fine at PG she was coming back from an injury and needed to get experience no doubt she’s going to have a great year and Breezy Hall will also get a lot of minutes for her defense alone but she’s also one of the best shooters on the roster too. SC definitely can win a national championship.

Just because a team wins doesn’t mean they didn’t struggle. By that logic Iowa didn’t struggle when they beat South Carolina. SCAR beat Stanford by one possession in the cases you mentioned. It easily could’ve went the other way. The final score when the first time SCAR played UCLA is misleading. It was 60-56 with a minute left but then Kiki Rice has an irresponsible technical foul which blew the game away. We’ll see if you’re right about Sania Feign. I think she will be backup but we’ll see. Everyone blames the injury for Raven Johnson’s performance but it’s not like it was mid season. We haven’t seen her play college ball before the injury so it’s not fair to say it’s the only reason she isn’t performing at a high level.

It takes a while coming back from ACL tear. Her job is to facilitate and involve others then seek shots when she needs to. SC’s PG position will be fine! Raven won the UConn game for SC shutting down Muhl and facilitating. Who said Dawn was excluded from scrutiny? She definitely has her dumb coaching moments and I thought the Iowa game was one. Especially starting Fletcher and Saxton in the second half. However I’ve been watching Dawn coach going on 12 years now and if I’ve learned anything from her it’s that when she loses and people laughs she ALWAYS come back with a point to prove. I remember when SC got blown out in EE of A’ja Wilson SR. Year and everyone was laughing at her and Dawn and even the next season when SC was struggling people was piling it on from Media to fans just dumping on her and the program…. Then she got the #1 class and dominated WCBB sans one game that next season. The “thugs”, “monkeys”, “bar fighters” comments didn’t sit well with her and the way the Media always tries to attack her I definitely expect her and the team to come with a point to prove this year. Everyone expects SC to fall off you don’t think Dawn sees that and itching to prove them wrong?

In hindsight, it's interesting to hear all of this discussion about who will be the starters and whether the freshmen would be able to handle tournament time... As it turns out, the freshmen were stellar throughout the SEC AND NCAA tourneys (Tessa Johnson and Milaysia Fulwiley are DAWGS!) - and the starting rotation didn't really matter because Staley's rotation throughout their entire deep bench full of selfless players proved to be a winning game plan. For the 24-25 season (and beyond), the sky really is the limit as long as they continue to have the selfless buy-in to the culture because this team will only continue to improve on everything that made it a great team in 23-24. Exciting times for South Carolina.

No he didn't all he did was try to crucify LSU point out all their deficiencies. He ain't won not one NCAA Women's championship that I know of and he acts like Kim Mulkey is a basketball crash dummy and like she doesn't have enough basketball intelligence to inform her recruits and acquisitions about what sacrifices they need to make to win. Those kids believe in her resume and abilities to mode them and produce a winner. All of these stars on LSU have achieved individual success they don't give a dam about shinning individually.. I can't stand people who sit around acting like they know what's on players mind when they are not even a dam fly on the wall. Kim has no track record of putting together rosters of quality players with negative attitudes who refuse to accept their roles for the good of the teams success. We can all talk a good game but it's only one person who knows what will happen next season and that the Almighty God.

Many thanks to @maxpower247 for the excellent conversation starter. As for the South Carolina starters, for the first time in quite some time, it's unclear. In my opinion, two of the five are certain. Namely, Paopao at the two and Cardoso at the five. From there, I think it's important to keep a few things in mind. One, the five best players don't always start. Two, both sides of the ball should be considered. Three, as a team with several new faces finds its identity, there is a good chance the starting lineup changes. In that light, below are my thoughts on the remaining starters. The One - If I'm Dawn Staley, Raven is my first choice to start here. If this team becomes Raven's team, then Raven continues to start. Otherwise, Paopao moves to the one, Hall moves to the two, Kitts moves to the three, and Watkins joins the starters at the four. The Three - Starting Hall at the three with Raven at the one and Cardoso at the five entrenches defense in the first unit. Defense travels, so prioritizing defense in selecting early season starters is prudent, from my perspective. The Four - This in my view is the most intriguing decision for the staff. I like Kitts in this spot. She is arguably not one of the five best players, but she plays beyond her years, which makes this a great opportunity for the staff to allocate starter minutes to team youth. Also, Raven would have three shooters in Paopao, Hall, and Kitts to open the paint for Cardoso. Conversely, Feagin or Watkins in this spot creates scenarios where four new faces in Fulwiley, Tessa, Kitts, and Walker would run together in the second unit. That's too much novelty coming off the bench. The Second Unit - Fulwiley, Tessa, Watkins, Feagin, and Walker. This group would initially feature Watkins and Feagin, giving the other three time to acclimate. Another benefit with Feagin here is she and Walker would both be available should Cardoso get into foul trouble.
