China will continue to push its weight around. The Philipines will ultimately not be respected. I have heard great things about the Philipines pointing to a great future for its people. However I believe the Philipines may do well to invest in an island torpedo system that is detached from submarines. In this way the Philipines can cause outsized pain if China presses too hard and prevent island occupation via travel by ship. With such a system the Philipines could withdraw its ships and then launch the torpedos. Im sure the US would assist with this if reauested officially.

I was watching the military games between Russia and China unfortunately for China their temu tank fell apart during the games. The 2016 South China Sea tribunal was a complete joke. The arbitral tribunal was formed by a group of civilians and is not a UN institution. For an arbitral tribunal to function, both parties must agree to participate and be willing to accept the decision beforehand. However, in the case of the 2016 South China Sea tribunal, China never agreed to anything, never attended the tribunal, and therefore has no obligation or responsibility to comply with any of its rulings concerning China. It was a total waste of time and money for the Philippines.

The law states: The EEZ does not automatically determine the ownership of any islands, shoals, or reefs within its boundaries (read this 100 times).
