If you're not a guitarist you will never understand just how difficult it is to perform a song with this many years beyond its initial inception, solo! Fretting with older fingers, singing with an older voice, not touring like they used too (ie: practicing) and getting the mood and timing of the tune down years after that emotion is gone. Pat, this rendition is simply amazing! I never thought the Doobies got the recognition and acclaim they were due for all the great tunes and hard work they put into the music but brother, they would pack the venues with us fans! Good to see ya grew your hair out again! Peace, 👣

awesome. I'm telling you he and Johnston had some great chords for so many of their songs. Not at all your typical C, G, D stuff. It's great to try and learn them and play along. Thank you Pat.

Pat and me shared the same small cafe in Soquel, California. It sat about 30 people! Nobody ever bothered him though we all knew who he was. NICE MAN... for a time Neil Young ate at the same place. Hell Doobies even kept their commitment to play a dance at my high school just after Listen to the Music climbed the charts. It is rather sad to read how many in the band are gone now :-(

I lived there then.... mid '76-mid '88... one of my favorite concerts ever they played Graham Hill Showgrounds - free !! stood close enough in back ,of Pat (to kiss his hair) in line at Santa Cruz Coffee Roasting co...but was afraid his gf would've kicked my ass.. Always loved that hair.. I was at a laundromat one day Neil Young came in..was pissed off about something...maybe he left his clothes overnight...lol Hate that I was too shy to talk to these guys🤭...never had another chance... But a friend and I Did ask to go backstage at the Catalyst to give Joe Cocker a hug !! So glad we did.... miss those Santa Cruz days......

If I have such a thing as one favorite song, this is it. Pat has been a guitar/music hero of mine since the early/mid 70's when Captain and Me came out. Fast forward some 50 years later and I am just now learning to play it. It sort of got lost in the process of playing more widely popular rock based electric guitar songs off the album. My mistake (if you can call playing any of their songs a mistake) entirely. Too soon old, too late smart.

Saw PS once, trademark hair chopped short, at a remote dance studio in Mendo Co.... I kept looking at him thinking - gee I know that guy from somewhere....friend of a friend? Did we work together once? He was such a low-key genteel audience member; just there to support the kids. Thanks Doobie Bros. for some great American music.
