My replies keep disappearing. But yes, that's the pinnacle of pheasant hunting for me. I had no business recovering that bird, but obviously Ace had other plans.

I can attest that following a hot springer along some ditch cover can be a track meet. Nice job with the hunt, always fun to see Ace get excited.... I wasnt real sure before but now I know that our "areas" overlap when I go out there. I recognized that spot for your second bird, had permission for a piece of property only a mile from there. One day maybe we will cross paths!

He is a good boy! That bird was not very far from where it went down (we could mark the spot by those two trees). I hate when I wing one and it goes down with its head up; runner for sure!! Your dog did fantastic!

GoPro is a little deceiving sometimes. I don't know EXACTLY where Ace came across that bird initially, but he tackled it 50 yds or so from where it fell. Cows had been in those cattails, so there were beaten down runways all over the place. Either way, I had no business recovering that bird, but Ace came through again. Love it!

@@gettinbirdy pen, as in a pheasant pen? No. Oddly enough, I don't own a pen full of roosters. I was just talking with Lucas a couple days ago about that bird. I noticed the instant I saw him that he was a tad small. I seriously suspect he hatched in early to mid September. VERY late!!

Looked like a short hunt, Ace is terrific! How long were shots 2 and 3? Sometimes hard to tell on the video. Not much snow over there now?

Thanks, Ace tends to do some amazing stuff now & then. Shot #2 was a long one, all of 50 yds, possibly 55. It was made long because the hole in my glove caught on my safety & I didn't get a smooth, quick mount at all. Shot #3 was close. 25 yds or so. Those close ones at severe angles frequently don't get caught by the camera. I got him good though. And no, pretty much still no snow.😠

@@anthonysherman9113 when pheasants mostly aren't using true public land, but they are using ditches....it seems like hunting ditches (basically public land) makes sense. No use hunting where the pheasants aren't. I recommend fast forward through the intro. 😉
