I moved to the San Luis Valley 7 years ago. I grew up in the Sangre de Cristo mountains and there are lots of beautiful places there but they don't hold a candle to the San Juan mountains. The San Juans go on for ever and ever with something breathtaking around every turn. South Fork has turned into a place for the money folks. Most of the summer homes along the Rio Grande are larger and fancier than most folks regular homes.

Is the Huphrys vacation home still in the hills there or does it have a different name now? My grandma's siblings worked there in the 30s, 40s and 50s I believe. Any info would be helpful. They had guest cabins there too. My dad's family was born and raised there. The sons built thier mother a home later in her life off main street. It was once a gift shop and tea room then later a fabric shop. I believe it's still standing.
