love the vids, thanks for sharing - heads up to anyone reading, rode the unsanctioned gold trail today 12/22/25 and those that be have placed small boulders at the top portion of the trail. the rest is still rideable and certainly worth it for me, but a little bit of freeride is now on the menu for the first 300ft or so of trail

Hell yeah! I just bought a new mountain bike and live directly across the street from S. Mountain. Can't wait to hit some trails.

Heck yeah bud. It's an addictive sport. There are so many good riding zones in Phoenix! Find one that helps you progress withought breaking you off!

Dude. No joke right? That thing is so steep, and SO FUN! You're lucky to have SOMO in your backyard!

National is one of my favorites in the Phoenix area but I think some of the trails in Hawes are even better! Thanks for the advice about shuttles, I've long wondered about whether there was one on South Mountain...will check that out soon!! And I have also done the hike-a-bike up Mormon...and it made me feel like a moron!

I love Hawes! I need to get back and try to tackle Sunset. The first time I rode that one was a humbling experience! Boulderdash is a BLAST, but I love the raw feel of South Mountain :D

Any reference for where Trail 1 is on the mountain? I ride SOMO often and would like to try this trail. Your SOMO videos have been awesome.

Thanks bud! But as a non-local, I might be crucified for divulging that info! Maybe someone else can chime in. Or, you can book a shuttle day, and someone can show you down!
