The best one is Al Gore’s “I’m cereal!” That was a slip during his 2000 campaign. He was trying to say “I’m serious” but misspoke. The media rode him for days afterwards. Thing is, I 100% remember it happening and can’t find the first thing about it anywhere online. It’s just funny that one of the most famous phrases in the show’s history is one that most don’t know the origin of, or care really. At the end of the day it doesn’t matter I guess. That whole ManBearPig thing is the most South Park thing in the history of South Park.

Love that this episode shows either side of the immigration debate even handedly, like immigrants being exploited for cheap labor but also coming from terrible conditions at home. They’re both right but also missing a part of the big picture at the same time.
@mevan883
@mevan883 Жыл бұрын
I thought it touch on the big picture like what Stan said basically if the every nation works together and help one another people would be able to stay in there own countries only for Stan to say what stops that from happening, since in the real world people think It's gay to help others.
@VideoDotGoogleDotCom
@VideoDotGoogleDotCom Жыл бұрын
You just mentioned ONE side of the debate in your comment: that the immigrants are victims no matter where they live. The flipside of the coin would be the harm that they are causing to your country. Frankly I find it amazing that so many Americans tolerate the broken system of millions and millions of people illegally coming to their country. It's crazy, but people simply don't seem to care. Maybe you should watch the South Park episode "Goobacks" to open your eyes a bit.
@zbynekurbanek3345
@zbynekurbanek3345 Жыл бұрын
the big picture is that the correct thing for them is to stay home. Because their home needs them. If they go away because of terrible conditions these conditions will get even worse... because the most able ppl usually have the biggest job mobility... and the most able ppl will be most missed there if they move for a job.

It's always interesting to me that the very same people that complain the most about minimum wage can't seem to understand that when you flood a market with unskilled illegal labor, you are competing directly with people at entry level jobs. And as far as the claim that Americans won't do those jobs, that's a lie. When I was young I picked peaches alongside many illegal migrant workers. I also killed squirrels in pecan Groves. Americans would do those kind of jobs if they're motivated. And if you get rid of the illegal labor then employers have to compete for entry level labor, which will drive up wages. It is simple supply and demand. There are some Americans who would refuse to do such jobs comma as beneath them. Quite frankly, if you need to make money, and you're unwilling to do a job because it is beneath you, then you don't deserve to make a living. After I left my first career, I had to start over in the United States. And because my skill set was pretty specialized to the industry I had been in, I couldn't find a good job. So I had to take a job. And I started over working at Home Depot as a part-time Garden associate. I worked hard and was reliable and very quickly that was rewarded with a slightly better job. Then I managed to convince a local it Department to take me on. I don't have any certifications, all of my experience is Hands-On. Within 5 years, I gained enough experience that I now do independent it contracting, and have recently applied for a network engineer job, which I expect I'll get. The point is that people who are willing to work hard, and are humble, and recognize that the world owes them nothing will nearly always land on their feet. People who whine and complain, and are always worried about what they're being paid, not the value they are giving. The kind of people who say a particular job is beneath them, will do relatively poorly and don't deserve to do better. I feel sorry for them because they are doing it to themselves, but they blame everyone else. When I lived in houston, I met a guy who ran a landscape company. If you watch better call saul, think Lalo. He was absolutely charming and very magnetic, but a criminal. And he explained to me exactly what he does. He hires a friend who is here legally, and pays them a salary. He pays for their social security tax everything that's required for that person to have a legal job. But that person never actually works there. They take a cut of the total amount that he is allegedly spending in salary. Then he himself takes a cash Kickback from that salary. The remaining money he to hire a dozen illegals at an hourly wage a fraction of minimum wage. And those people actually do the work. They were illegal, most didn't speak English, and they weren't likely to complain because they recognized their boss was ruthless and they might get deported, and deportation would be a much better outcome than the alternate. Mass illegal immigration and illegal labor drives down wages, it's stifles innovation, it creates a second and third class of people who are downtrodden, and taking advantage of. It creates a built-in criminal underground. Because every illegal is a criminal. It is bad for them, it is bad for Citizens and legal residents. There's nothing positive about it. The few exceptions are those who are genuinely here for political Asylum. But people know that, and have learned how to take advantage of our Asylum process. Our generosity and kindness have been being abused for decades. So if you support Mass illegal immigration and illegal labor, I don't want to hear anything from you about wages or taxes.
@zbynekurbanek3345
@zbynekurbanek3345 Жыл бұрын
@@thebarkingmouse but minimum wage destroys the job market the same (or even more) as flooding the job market with cheap illegals... minimum wage completely destroys and erases the entry level jobs - by its definition - it destroys any job that would be below the artibitrarily set minimum wage level. (and no the employer is not gonna pay more for the job when its not gonna be profitable for him to create and sustain that job anymore...) So minimum wage is the same evil as flooded job market - flooded market makes bigger supply and minimum wage restrictions makes smaller demand - both drive the wages down.

I have some better ideas: 1. Have a bunch of scientists predict where in space the Earth will be in 1000 years, have many countries fire their nukes at that location and 1000 years in the future, Earth's gravity will pull the nukes toward it and nuke the goobacks. 2. Get time traveling technology from the goobacks, go back 1000 years in the past, and take THEIR jobs.

I used to be pro-immigration, and think people who weren't were just xenophobic idiots. However, over time I've begun to understand more about human nature and human existence. That understanding suggests that there are a finite amount of resources (jobs in this case). There may be enough for those who live in a particular community or area where those resources are located, but when more people come in, those resources become less available for those original inhabitants. Plus, that community might have a working dynamic in which outsiders might upset, potentially making life harder for everyone else. In understanding that, it is only natural for humans, and any animal, to be territorial. This is pure self-preservation, not some malicious inherent evil. People will simply favor those they relate to. If you look at the natural world, you'll see that nature isn't this holistic communitarian thing. It actively encourages competition for resources through the process of natural selection. Animals gather into packs and small communities which have pecking orders. Alphas are constantly challenged. Predators kill and consume prey. Ultimately, human society, with all its flaws, is far from perfect, but it is definitely better than living out in nature. The same basic instincts are still there, but we have the ability to look past them. Those within a community CAN welcome outsiders, and outsiders CAN be considerate of their new neighbors. Unfortunately, circumstances get in the way and people aren't always considerate of each other. I'm not sure if I'm for or against immigration, but I recognize that people will do what they think they have to in order to take care of themselves or their loved ones. Plain and simple. If it leads to a divided community, social conflict, economic competition, and hurt feelings, so be it. That's just life.

I never realized either that the "Goodback" term only exists because they came out of the portal with goo on them. But they only have do that because they need to support their family. Which ties right back in to the real world issue.

Thanks a lot! I’ve been watching South Park since my student life. Now I watch it in English in order to study this beautiful language. With your reacts it got much more interesting and funny! Keep doing this! I also would like to recommend you watching of the 10th episode of the 8th season “Pre-school”. It’s fun to watch!

"Goo Back" is a play on "Wet Back" as a racist label for Mexicans / Latin American immigrants (though "Go back" makes sense, too.)

Hey, it's my name all in big, sweet! Great reaction as always, I love the tiny cutaways/overlays you use when the show references stuff, or to communicate your own thoughts about something you didn't verbalize at the time. Looking forward to the next one =D

285 runs from Hampden Ave in Denver into the mountains then runs from Conifer south to Buena Vista. It's a state Hwy. 285 in Atlanta is a bypass if I remember correctly. Good channel. I love Southpark reviews. 👍

Didn't know you spent time in the ATL! Also being from the Atlanta area, I've noticed the 285 thing myself. A few separate times in South Park actually. Looked it up and apparently there's a highway (not an Interstate) that runs through Colorado that also has the number 285. So, it almost certainly a reference to that highway.

US 285 runs through Park County Colorado, including an area called South Park. I use to live in that area, they have a lot of inside jokes and references for locals.

One thing that's so funny about this episode is that it's one of the only episodes where adults don't need one or all of the boys to "translate" what someone is saying i.e.: S02E18: Prehistoric Ice Man or S17E6 Ginger Cow.
