Colorado was actually the first state to legalize weed recreationally in 2014 (I think tied with Washington). I remember being downtown for the first 4/20 after that happened. There were actually a couple stoners there with their like 8-10 year old kids. That episode was just a few years before that went down.

When Cartman doesn't get his KFC they find out KFC became illegal and was replaced by the medicinal mariwana store. He goes to a rehab clinic which used to wein drug users with morphine but now weins KFC addicts with tiny dose of gravy. He then gets dealt some KFC on the streets, begs to become a dealer and ends up going to get supplies. From here he meets Colonel Sanders and the rest of the B story takes a Scarface Twist with Sanders saying "Remember! Don't fuck with me!" Like when Scarface started doing the Coke and killed the wrong people, Eric makes a similar story mistake when he gets carried away with the KFC.
